Have you ever wondered what happens to notes if a mistake is made during printing? Many times, pictures of misprinted notes go viral on social media, seeing which the question arises in people’s mind whether such notes can be circulated in the market or do they have any special value. Let us know…

Printing of notes in India is done under a very safe and technical process. During printing of notes, quality is checked at every stage so that no defective note reaches the common people. Despite this, if there is any printing related mistake in any note, it is immediately removed.

According to reports, the notes are checked at several levels before and after printing their numbers. During this, the printing supervisor and expert team ensure that the color, design, size, security features and numbering of the note are completely correct. If a note is blurred, printed upside down, has a cutting error or any other type of mistake, it is considered a defective note and is discarded.

Such notes do not come in the market

All such damaged or mis-printed notes are not released in the market. These are destroyed amid strict security arrangements. Usually these notes are cut with the help of machines, cut into pieces or destroyed through a special process, so that they cannot be misused in any way.

What is the reason behind the star mark?

Another interesting aspect related to mis-printed notes is the ‘Star Series’ note. When a damaged note is found in a bundle of notes and has to be removed, a new note is inserted in its place. A star in the middle of the number of this new note

There is a mark of. For this reason it is called Star Series Note.

Many people get confused after seeing the star marked note and consider it to be a fake or special note. However, according to the Reserve Bank of India, the star marked note is completely genuine and valid. It can be used just like a normal note. This merely indicates that it has been issued in place of a defective note.

Rbi on atm dispense: A big decree has been issued by the Reserve Bank of India regarding Rs 100 and Rs 200 to all banks. Because of this, there is a situation like a stir in the banks. The banking regulator said in its circular issued about both notes that their order should be considered as soon as possible and it should be implemented. Now let us tell you what RBI has said in its order given to banks.

In the circular issued on Monday, the RBI asked all the banks of the country to ensure that 100 rupees and 200 rupee notes also come out of the ATM, so that their availability remains in the market. Banks and white label ATM operators (WLAOS) have been asked to implement this order of RBI in a phased manner.

Significantly, the ATM operated by non-banking institutions is called white label ATM. The RBI has further stated in its circular that by September 30, 2025, in the country’s 75 percent ATM, at least one cassette, 100 rupees or 200 rupee notes will have to be withdrawn and the bank will have to ensure it. After this, by 31 March, 2026, 90 percent of the country’s ATM should be removed from one cassette or Rs 200 note.

The central bank said that it is necessary to do so to increase the availability of these notes for the public. Banks and white label ATM operators (WLAAO) will have to implement this instruction in a phased manner. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a circular, “It has been decided to increase public reach to the bank’s bank note, that all banks and white label ATM operators (WLAAOs) will ensure that Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes are also released from their ATMs on regular basis.”
