The Australian batsman accepted the proposed punishment by the ICC International Panel match referee Ron King, which did not require a formal hearing.

The charge was officially leveled by the field umpire Zahid Basarath and Leslie Refer, Third Umpire Daitan Butler and Fourth Umpire Gregory Brathwaite. According to ICC rules, minimum punishment for level-1 violation is given one or two demerit marks with an official reprimand and maximum 50 percent match fee. If a player gets four or more demerit points in a period of 24 months, then he may be banned.
