Abnormal Cholesterol Symptoms In Young Adults: If you think that cholesterol problem is only related to increasing age or obesity, then a recent study may change your thinking. According to a study by the Indian Council of Medical Research, the cholesterol level of almost 9 out of 10 adults in India is not normal. This problem is not limited only to the elderly, but young and completely healthy people are also vulnerable to it.

The risk of which diseases is increasing?

This study was conducted on 23,665 people. According to the report, 87.3 percent of Indian adults are suffering from some kind of abnormal blood fat problem. This means that the level of bad cholesterol or triglycerides in the body is increased or the level of good cholesterol is lower than normal. Such a situation can increase the risk of heart disease, heart attack and stroke in the long run.

Who are most at risk?

The study also revealed that this problem is more prevalent among people living in cities. Cholesterol of 89 percent people in urban areas was not found to be normal, while in rural areas also this figure was 86.5 percent. That means this problem is no longer limited to cities only. This problem was also found more in women than in men. According to the report, cholesterol related disorders were found in 91.1 percent women, while this figure was 83.5 percent in men. The most surprising thing is that in India this problem is seen most in the age group of 30 to 39 years. This means that a large number of people are moving towards the risk of heart related diseases at an early age.

How can we protect ourselves?

The study also found that cholesterol was not normal not only in people suffering from obesity, diabetes or high blood pressure, but also in about 40 percent of people who did not have any of these diseases. It is clear from this that merely looking fit or having normal weight is not a guarantee of a completely healthy heart. Experts say that lipid profile check should be done from time to time. This is a normal blood test, which reveals the level of total cholesterol, good and bad cholesterol and triglycerides in the body. If the problem is detected early, it can be controlled with the help of changes in diet, regular exercise and if necessary, medicines. Adopting a healthy lifestyle, eating a balanced diet, doing regular physical activity and getting health checkups done from time to time are among the most effective ways to keep the heart healthy.
