There may be quick relief in the huge tariffs imposed on India by America. Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) V Anant Nageswaran hoped on Thursday that the resolution of the dispute with the US over high tariffs could be resolved in the next eight to ten weeks. The US had imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on Indian products from August 27 for the purchase of oil from Russia. With this, the total tariff in America on Indian products has increased to 50 percent.

The conversation continues behind the curtain- V Anant Nagswaran
Nageswaran said in a program organized by the Board of Industry, ‘Negotiations are going on between the two governments behind the screen. I estimate that the tariff imposed by the US on Indian goods will come out in the next eight to ten weeks. He further said-‘I believe that punitive fees will not be applicable after November 30’. However, he warned that the export of Indian things to America may decline in the event of tariff continuing.

The relationship between the two countries due to tariff
After US President Donald Trump’s tariff growth decision, the relationship between the two countries became tense for some time. However, after receiving favorable indications at the level of top leadership, the discussion about the trade agreement between the two countries has started again. Describing India as a low-middle-income aspiration economy, the Chief Economic Advisor said that in the first quarter of the current financial year, the actual GDP (GDP) increased at a rate of 7.8 percent. After the Kovid epidemic, India has registered a faster growth compared to many countries. He said that with the progress of manufacturing, service and agricultural sectors, strengthening of rural demand and improvement in urban demand will give the basis of economic growth in the next two years.

What Nageshwaran said on relief in GST rates?
Nagswaran said that the relief given in GST rates recently will increase additional income in the hands of consumers. The MSME sector has increased loans and large industry units are facing structural changes in debt distribution. He said that in the first quarter of the current financial year, the current account deficit of GDP was reduced to 0.2 percent and foreign exchange reserves are also healthy. He said, “Though the rupee is weakening against the dollar, but given the strength of the economy, I am sure that the rupee will maintain its value in the long run and it will also strengthen it.”

Nagswaran said that the priorities of the government include capital expenditure, encouragement of private investment and improvement in regulatory structure. He called upon the private sector to spend more on innovation and research. On the impact of AI on the Arthi system, he said that its impact is limited at present but there will be pressure on coding jobs. He said that in such a situation people will have to increase their skills.

Trump Tariff: US President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on the goods that are imported in America i.e. other countries from other countries. He says that this will promote manufacturing in America and create employment. While critics say that due to tariffs, the prices of things in America will increase, which will damage the economy.

What is tariff?

Tariff means tax imposed on foreign goods and services. Under this, when the company selling goods crosses the border, it pays this tax to the government of another country as a tariff. This makes the goods imported from abroad expensive, while the government makes profit from tax. America has imposed 50 percent tariff on India. That is, if someone is being sold in India for 100 rupees, then he will now sell in America for 150 rupees with tariffs. It is clear that additional 50 rupees to be charged as tariffs will be added to the treasury of the US government. Its entire pressure will be on common American citizens and companies there.

Crisis on foreign goods

When foreign products are cheap, more and more customers buy it. At the same time, when foreign goods become expensive due to tariffs, people give priority to the goods made in their country. It accelerates local manufacturing. In such a situation, many times local companies also decide to import less goods. Trump says that tariffs will increase the government’s earnings in the form of tax, consumers will be encouraged to buy more American -made goods and will boost investment in America.

Because of this, Trump imposed tariff

Trump wants to reduce America’s trade deficit – the difference between the goods purchased from other countries and the value of the goods sold to them. Trump says that other countries have exploited America, foreigners have looted it. Trump had said, “Our country has been looted by other countries. American taxpayers are being looted for more than 50 years, but now this is not going to happen. I am signing a historical executive order imposing reciperook tariffs on countries around the world. The reciperook, this means that we will do with them as they are doing with us. “

In the same sequence, announcing the tariff against China, Mexico and Canada, Trump said that these countries should make more efforts to prevent the reach of migrants and illegal drugs in the US. He has also threatened to impose tariffs on countries doing business with Russia, until there is no agreement towards ending the ongoing war in Ukraine.

However, since the announcement of tariffs, many times they have been changed or postponed them for some time. Trump’s tariff has also faced many legal challenges. In August, an American court while giving its verdict said that most of the tariffs imposed by Trump are illegal.

Trump’s tariff imposed on different countries

50 percent tariff on Indian goods – including 25 percent fine on trade with Russia.

50 percent tariff on Brazilian items

30 percent tariff on South African items

20 percent tariff on Vietnamese items

15 percent tariff on Japanese items

15 percent tariff on South Korean items

China and the US had threatened to put more than 100 % tariffs on each other’s goods. However, both have agreed to extend their trade ceasefire by 10 November.

Canada has a tariff up to 35 percent. Currently, talks are going on between the two. America is also continuing its conversation. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that his country will remove some ventilative fees for the free trade deal of most of the goods.

Mexico has been given a discount of 30 percent or more by the end of October to get time for the agreement.

India-Rus Trade Deal: The trade deal between India and America may soon be stamped. Recently, the fifth round of talks were also completed. In this, the tray deal was to wear the last blueprint. This deal is being considered important for India so that reciperook tariffs can be avoided and can be at the forefront of other Asian countries. The dialogue lasted in Washington for four days (14 July-17 July).

Let us know that America has fixed the deadline for installing reciperook tariff on 1 August. US President Donald Trump also recently said that the deal with India is almost final, but in the meantime if both countries do not reach any agreement, then the US will impose 26 % tariff on India.

Negotiations on these issues

India wants America to impose less tariffs on it than other Asian countries. However, it is being told that this dialogue has moved forward many levels from the common conversation on business, in which issues ranging from digital economy to ‘high technology trade’ also took place.

According to the report of The Financial Express, India has demanded exemption from the US from 25 percent on the auto sector and 50 percent tariff on steel and aluminum. There was also talks between the two countries on Somet (Special Chemicals, Organisms, Material, Equipments and Technology). The trade of these things is very regulated and only with reliable partners.

America demands from India

India wants to adopt a protective attitude towards its agriculture and dairy sector along with cum tariffs as America is trying to set a foot on these two sectors in India. Along with reducing import duty in agriculture sector, the US also wants India to let the genetically modified agricultural products come here. There is also a demand for America to reduce import duty on automobiles from India and buy more energy products from them.

Protecting the interests of its farmers, especially for grains like dairy sector and wheat and rice, India has demanded more access to the market for emerging manufacturing sectors like its labor-dominated and electronics. Apart from goods trade, another objective of America is to create a more liberal regulatory environment for its technology companies in India. So far, the US has announced a trade deal with Britain, Indonesia and Vietnam.

India-as Mini Trade Deal: The negotiations on the limited trade agreement between India and the United States are in the final stages. American tariff deadline is happening on Wednesday (July 9, 2025). For other countries, this deadline has been extended till August 1, but India has not been included in it, which is estimated that the official announcement of the deal between the two countries can be made anytime tonight.

The conversation was going on for a long time
According to a senior official, talks were going on between India and the US for several weeks. However, this deal will be limited as many areas could not be agreed. India was firm on its demands and was willing to face the tariff, but the US took the initiative to negotiate.

Suspense over tariff
It is not yet clear how much tariff America will impose on India, but according to reports it can be between 10 and 20 percent. Donald Trump warned of 10% additional tariff on BRICS countries. 26% of the recipe rockel tariff has already been implemented on India.

India does not have a trade deficit from America
In the financial year 2022-23, India exported ₹ 6.84 lakh crore to the US while in 2023-24 it was ₹ 6.75 lakh crore. At the same time, India’s imports from America decreased from ₹ 4.43 lakh crore to ₹ 3.67 lakh crore in 2023-24. India exports double to America, which will benefit it despite the tariff.

China-Bangladesh loss, India will get benefit
After the Geneva Agreement, the tariff war between the US and China has intensified. The US has imposed 51% tariff on China and 35% on Bangladesh. This will affect the export capacity of these countries and India will get competitive benefits in the US market, especially in textile.

Who will benefit from this deal?
To India:

Textile, medicines, and jewelery access to the US market

Export will be cheaper by removing 26% reciperook tariff

Bilateral trade can reach $ 500 billion by 2030

To America:

Products like Pekan Nuts, Blueberry and Automobiles are a chance to sell on low tariffs in India

An opportunity to strengthen market in Asia

The possibilities of broad deal in future will be stronger

US Trade Policy 2025: US President Donald Trump has made it clear that the tariff deadline of July 9 is not a confirmed date. He said that America can increase it and less, it will all depend on how the talks with other countries go on business.

US President Trump made a big claim

Talking to the media at the White House, Trump gave an open warning. He said, “We can change the decision whenever you want. Can take it forward or do it quickly. I want to hurry and send a letter directly to everyone- congratulations, now you are paying 25 percent tax.” Last week, while the discussion of America was over the attack on Iran and tax bill, now the Trump administration has increased the focus on trade.

US Finance Minister Scott Besant said this

On Thursday, the US sent a new trade proposal to the European Union, while India has sent its delegation to Washington for trade talks. At the same time, US Finance Minister Scott Besant has said that business agreements may take some time, but many important agreements can be completed by Labor Day (early September).

Talking to the Fox Business Network, Besant said, “We are getting proposals from many countries. We have 18 important business partners. If we finalize the agreement with 10 or 12 of these and we are also interacting with countries with 20 more economies, then it is possible that we complete the business process till Labor Day.”

Tariff discount will end on July 8

It is worth noting that in April 2025, US President Donald Trump had announced the implementation of the recipe rifle on almost all foreign imports. Under this, the goods on which more than 10% tariffs were to be imposed, they were given a discount of 90 days so that the country could make agreements through mutual negotiations. This discount is ending on 8 July.

However, by the end of May, Trump’s stance became more strict. He warned to impose import duty up to 50% on goods coming from the European Union. EU has already faced American tariff in several stages.

America on tariff: The US Trump administration has given a new ultimatum to its trade partner countries. The US has asked its trade partner countries to offer their best offers from Wednesday (June 4, 2025) to ban the reciperochl tariff again, so that their country’s trade agreements with America will continue to run well.

The US Trade Representative Office has issued a draft letter, according to which President Trump’s strategy to end the widespread trade between many countries and America is revealed. However, no release of recipients in this draft, but this draft has targeted countries with which many meetings and documents are actively discussed about transactions. In such a situation, the European Union, Japan, Vietnam and India are discussing the trade agreement with the United States.

The US launched a conversation with these countries on 9 April about the reciperochl tariff on the trade agreement, before which Liberation Day Tariff was postponed for 90 days (till 8 July). The tariff imposed by the US led to an adverse reaction in stock, bonds and money markets.

America is in a hurry to make a trade agreement

According to Reuters reports, the administration of President Donald Trump is seen in a hurry to fulfill its business agreements with the countries of the world within his deadline. Despite continuous assurances from several other senior officials, including the White House Economic Advisor Kevin Haset, many agreements are in their final stages. The US has spoken about success in compromising with Britain only one of its important ally countries. However, the US agreement with Britain has been based on future agreement rather than a decisive system.

Trump Tariff: US President Donald Trump imposed reciperook tariffs on several countries including China. He said that other countries collect high tariffs from America and now America will also collect high tariffs from them. He had told that his tariff policy will promote manufacturing in America and will also speed up the American economy.

However, it seems to be reverse now because America is a country where there are many things that are not either manufactured or at very low levels. In such a situation, it is obvious that these products will be ordered from other countries and the same thing is now knocking on American companies because they will also have to face their retaliation for ordering goods from other countries.

Many American companies trust Chinese manufacturing

Now take China only. The US has imposed a huge tariff of 145 percent on Chinese imports. At the same time, China has also given a befitting reply to this and has imposed a 125 percent tariff on America. Apart from this, the 20 percent tariff already imposed is separate i.e. Total 145 percent tariff.

It is well known that products of many tech companies like Apple are prepared in China. Now when the goods are brought to America from here, they will have to pay high tariffs on them. The effect of this concern is that the shares of companies like Apple, Nvidia saw a huge decline and as a result the US stock market also suffered a strong loss. Perhaps this is the reason why smartphones and computers will no longer come under the purview of American reciperook tariff.

These products will not come under the purview of reciperook tariff

According to the notice issued by S Customs and Border Protection, smartphones, laptops and many other tech components will not come under the purview of reciperochl tariff. On Friday, the US CBP made a list of 20 such product categories, which will not be brought under the reciperoot tariff.

These include smartphones, computer/laptop telecom equipment, disc drive, recording device, data processing machine, printed circuit board assembly, wireless earphones, routers. The move will provide relief to many impoters and American tech companies, which are dependent on China for manufacturing.

Donald Trump Tariff War: The administration of US President Donald Trump, who produced a haltal in the world through tariff war, has exempted smartphones, computers and other electronics goods from Trump Tariff. After this step, the cost impact for many popular high technology products on American consumers will be reduced.

As a notice released late Friday night by the US Customs and Border Security Office, there are several electronic goods including smartphones coming from China and its parts from China, which have been currently charged with an additional 145 percent fee. At the same time, the semiconductor has been excluded from the baseline 10 percent tariff imposed on most American trading partners and 125 percent additional fees imposed on China.

Many electronic products are not made in America

This exemption has reduced the limit of 10 percent of the 10 percent of the comprehensive taxes declared by President Trump earlier this month and additional punitive tax imposed on goods coming from China. Many of the items that have been exempted, many of the products are not usually made in the US. These include hard drives and computer processors.

The issue arose in the meeting of the World Trade Organization

On the other hand, on the second day of the first annual meeting of the Mall Trade Council of the World Trade Organization, the US added the subject ‘mutual tariff’ under ‘other matters’ and promoted its gangster logic to implement the so -called ‘mutual tariff’. The Chinese representative strongly responded to this. The Chinese representative said that in a meeting held a day earlier, China had clearly explained its position on the so -called ‘mutual tariff’.

China opposed Trump Tariff

China expresses deep regret over unilateral increase in trade measures by the US, which has pushed the global economy into heavy uncertainty. The surprise and upheaval generated by the US is destroying the stable environment on which the business development of all countries and all members, especially developed members, depends on the business development. China strongly opposed national security misuse.

What is the whole matter?

According to the US media report, Allen Musk is no longer happy with Donald Trump’s tariff policy and he is privately appealed to him to back down on the trump tariff policy. Perhaps this is the reason why Alan Musk has shared a video of Freedman on his X handle, in which he is giving the message of free trade.

What’s in the video?

In the video of Nobel Prize winner Milton Freedman, the importance of free trade is explained by an example of a pencil. His argument was that the free market not only increases production capacity, but also promotes world peace.

pic.twitter.com/azqwpma0om

– elon musk (@elonmusk) April 7, 2025

Let me tell you, Milton Freedman, who is considered the father of monetaryism, gave his views in support of government intervention and support of free market. Freedman, who won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1976, believed that controlling money supply is the best way to stop inflation. By sharing his video, he is clearly indicating Musk that he does not agree with Trump’s tariff policy at the moment.

The effect of tariff on the musk

Trump’s tariff policy is expected to have a direct impact on Tesla. The US has imposed 34 per cent tariffs on China, 26 per cent on India and 29 per cent on Pakistan. In response to this, other countries have also increased duty on American imports, which may affect the demand for Tesla cars abroad.

Analysts believe that this move of Musk presents a major challenge for the Trump government. On the one hand, while Trump is adamant on putting tariffs to promote American manufacturing, on the other hand his prominent supporters are now seen in the mood to not support these policies.

Can a new debate start on the tariff policy?

This tariff war has also affected the global markets. The US stock market has recorded a huge decline and millions of millions of dollars of investors have been drowned. Due to this uncertainty spread in the markets, there is a possibility of further ups and downs in the coming days. Experts believe that this move of Musk can give a new direction to the debate on American trade policy. However, it will be politically difficult for Trump to retreat from his tariff policy.

Us china tariff war: After Trump’s tariff policy, there has been an outcry in the global market in the last few days. The stock markets of Asia and Europe have declined drastically. In response to Trump’s tariff, China imposed a 34 percent tariff on the US.
