General elections in Israel are to be held in the next few months, i.e. in October. A faction in support of Benjamin says that Netanyahu is the first choice for the country’s security, but this claim seems to be eclipsed. The reason for this is that people believe that there is a feeling of despair among the people due to the aggressive actions taken from Gaza, Lebanon and Iran in the last two and a half years. In a way these resulted in nothing, and were very tiring wars.

There has been a lot of pressure on the Israeli Defense Force i.e. IDF due to these wars. Continuous missile attacks from Iran have destroyed most of the northern part near the Lebanon border. Apart from this, the failure of security intel on October 8 is also damaging Netanyahu’s image. Experts believe that Netanyahu presented himself as Mr. Security i.e. the Messiah of security. His life’s mission remains to defeat Iran. But North Israel is no longer habitable. Iran has also repeatedly attacked Central Israel. The army has a lot of work and the country is also isolated diplomatically.

Is Netanyahu’s policy – divide and rule?

People are weighing Netanyahu’s policy on the criteria of divide and rule. Such strategies can prove successful in getting votes. But the question is whether another alliance will be formed. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has activated an electoral alliance with Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid this month. This has been a coalition that held power from mid-2021 to the end of 2022. Now his new alliance is presenting itself as an alternative government. However, there is currently a lack of opposition unity.

At the same time, Yashar Party leader and former IDF Chief of Staff Gad Eiseenkot has rejected Bennett’s alleged proposal to make him deputy chief of the coalition. He has formed another group. In such a situation, such divisions in the opposition camp seem to be paving the way for Netanyahu to power. Netanyahu has been seen taking advantage of this weakness during his six consecutive terms. To gain power in Israel, the Knesset is the parliament in which any party has to cross the minimum threshold of 3.25 percent to win a seat in the 120-member parliament.
