The public will also get relief because now they will be able to take all their complaints directly to the District Officer (DM).

DM will get more powers

In the new structure, the District Magistrate will be given powers like district officials of other states. This means that now the Nodal officers of Delhi Jal Board, PWD, Social Welfare Department and other important departments will be present in the DM office itself. This will not only improve the coordination, but the public will not have to cut the rounds of different offices.

Changes in districts and names

There is a plan to make the Municipal Corporation (MCD) zone a new district in Delhi. Currently there are 12 zones in Delhi, which will be reorganized as districts. Due to this process, the names and geographical location of some existing districts may change. It is believed that Shahdara district may end, while south and south-east districts can also be brought in a new form. Similarly, changes in the names and boundaries of outer Delhi and north-west district are also likely.
