America’s prestigious Columbia University is going to make a big agreement with the Trump administration. The university is alleged to have not given adequate protection to Jewish students from harassment on campus. Now, to resolve this dispute, preparations are being made to give compensation of $ 200 million.

According to a New York Times report, Columbia University officials may meet US President Donald Trump next week to finalize the agreement. The Trump administration stopped the first $ 400 million Federal Research Funding. Now this agreement is being done to partially restore the same funding.

What is involved in this agreement?

Under this agreement, the university will pay compensation to settle allegations of violation of civil rights. The university will have to bring more transparency regarding its admission process and foreign funding. However, this deal will not be a part of ‘Consent Decree’, that is, the government will not get long -term control over the operation of the university.

The agreement is being negotiated from the White House directly under monitoring, which is being led by Trump’s senior advisor Stephen Miller. University officials discussed the terms of this deal last Sunday.

University spokesperson Virginia Lam Abrams said, “The university focuses on advancing the conversation with the federal government. No final decision has been taken yet.”

Since the Trump administration stopped the $ 400 million Federal Research Funding in March this year, Columbia University has been continuously trying to solve the concerns of the Trump administration. Under this, the university took many strict steps. For example, the campus police were given the rights to arrest the protesting students.
