There are signs of the end of the strike of revenue employees who have been on indefinite strike in Bihar since February 11. Revenue and Land Reforms Department Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has said that a meeting has been held with the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of the department on the demands of the employees and important decisions have been taken. The striking Revenue Employees Union has also indicated to withdraw the strike after a mutual meeting.

Minister Vijay Sinha clearly told the employees to first complete the target of refinement set by the department by March 31. He said that if the employees complete this target on time, the government will seriously consider their demands. He also said that the strike does not provide a solution but rather increases the problem, the solution can be found only through dialogue and trust.

Written assurance given 8 months ago was not followed

The employees who went on strike say that talks were held with the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary 8 months ago and written assurance was also given, but it was not followed. The minister said that the government will look into all those issues and the appropriate demands will be seriously considered.

What are the demands of the employees?

The major demands of Bihar State Land Reform Employees Union Sanyukt Sangharsh Morcha include increasing the pay grade pay from 1900 to 2800, posting of newly appointed personnel in the home district, pending service confirmation, benefit of ACP-MACP, promotion on the basis of preference on vacant posts, necessary resources like laptop and internet, additional payment for additional work, free medical facility, restoration of the old pension scheme and repeal of the Revenue Employees Rules 2025.

Common people are getting worried, offices are lying vacant

Due to the strike, important revenue works like filing-dismissal, caste, residence, income certificate, parimarjan plus and e-measurement have been completely affected in the entire state. Employees’ rooms are lying vacant in zonal offices and people who have brought important work from far-flung villages are returning after waiting for hours without getting the work done.

Union gave signal to break the strike

Minister Vijay Sinha said that the representatives of the Revenue Employees Union have said that they will meet among themselves and inform the government about withdrawing the strike. The minister has also talked about conducting public welfare hearing again in entire Bihar after Holi.
