The land of the Philippines has once again trembled with the sharp tremors of the earthquake. A powerful earthquake has been felt in Central Philippines on Tuesday (September 30, 2025) at 10 pm as per local time. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the intensity of this powerful earthquake has been measured at 6.9.

At present, no information about any kind of damage or casualties has been revealed. But the local seismic department also issued a warning of mild fluctuations in sea level. In addition, the residents of Leyte, Sebu and Biliran Islands appealed to stay away from the beach and do not go to the shore.

The center of earthquake was 11 km deep from the earth

According to the USGS, the center of this powerful earthquake came at a depth of 11 kilometers under water in the city of Bohol province of the Philippines and it can cause heavy shocks in addition to the local tsunami. However, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has clarified that there is no threat of tsunami from this earthquake and no action is needed.

This explosion saw 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) ash and gas in the sky. The special thing is that lightning was seen shining between the clouds of this ash, which made this incident even more frightening.

The incident took place at a time when dozens of international flights had to be canceled due to another volcanic explosion in Bali. However, this time no loss of life or property has been reported. Indonesia’s volcanic science agency confirmed the incident, saying that the reason for the explosion was the pressure of gases frozen in the recent weeks, which came out together.

Scientific reason behind the explosion

This explosion also suggests that the volcano can remain active from within despite being calm and when they burst, they take the form of natural disaster.

Lahar floods and other possible threats
Lahar floods have been warned immediately after this explosion. Lahar floods are flooded with a mixture of a type of volcanic soil and water, which flows rapidly in rivers and valleys with heavy rains and destroys everything that comes in its path. The volcanic science agency has advised local communities to stay away from the river sides and to stay out of the six -kilometer radius of the crater. With this, villages and tourist places near Flores Island have been alerted to deal with any emergency.

No flight has been reported to have been reported after this explosion, but it is important to note that a major explosion earlier canceled 24 flights at Bali’s international airport.
