Extreme Heat: At present, the effect of extreme heat is being seen across the country and now Nautapa is also going to start soon. Generally, people feel that heat bothers them the most only during the day, especially in the afternoon when by around 2 o’clock the sun becomes so strong that even people’s shirts get drenched with sweat. It becomes difficult to go out on the road and the body becomes completely tired. But now doctors and meteorologists say that not only the sunlight of the day but also the heat of the night is having a bad effect on people’s health. Many times this effect increases gradually and people do not understand until their health becomes worse.

People’s sleep is decreasing due to hot nights

In a recent study, data related to sleep of about 47 thousand people from 68 countries was seen. It was found that on nights when the temperature went above 86 degrees Fahrenheit, people slept an average of 14 minutes less. This may sound like a small amount of time, but if calculated for the entire year, it amounts to about 44 hours of sleep loss. Doctors say that due to continuous less sleep, a person not only feels tired, but his ability to think and take right decisions also starts weakening. During hot nights, people start feeling irritability, restlessness and also have difficulty in concentrating.

body does not get rest

According to doctors, the body tries to cool itself at night, so that the fatigue of the day can be removed. But when the temperature at night remains high, the body does not get relief. Due to continuous sweating, there is a deficiency of water and essential salt in the body. This can increase problems like weakness, headache, dizziness and fatigue. Many people feel lethargic and restless as soon as they wake up in the morning, because their body is not able to rest properly throughout the night.

Also read: Thyroid In Children: Do not ignore the increasing weight of small children, this can be a dangerous disease.

Increasingly hot nights are becoming a big threat to the world

A report by experts has revealed that due to climate change, night temperatures are increasing rapidly across the world. According to a report of the year 2024, about 2.4 billion people are facing such a situation where they have to face at least two weeks of hotter nights every year. It was told in the report that at many places the night temperature is reaching above 77 degrees Fahrenheit and this problem may increase further in the future. Doctors say that this is not a concern for the future, but has become the present reality, which is directly affecting people’s sleep, thinking ability and body health.

Who are most at risk?

According to doctors, small children, elderly, pregnant women and already sick people are most at risk. Elderly people sweat less, due to which their body is not able to cool down quickly. Children’s body loses water quickly. At the same time, for people who have heart, lung or kidney related diseases, hot nights can cause more problems. Laborers working outside and people who stay in the sun for long periods also need to be more careful.

You may have to take the heat of the night lightly

Doctors are advising that people should protect themselves not only from the daytime sunlight but also from the heat at night. Drink plenty of water before sleeping, wear light clothes and make arrangements for ventilation in the room. If the body does not get rest at night, then the effect of heat can gradually weaken the health. Therefore, now it has become necessary that people take the heat of the day as well as the night seriously.

Lucknow Summer Vacation: In view of the scorching heat and heatwave in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the district administration has taken a big decision. The District Magistrate has declared summer holidays in the schools of all education boards from May 22, 2026. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety and health of children. The continuously increasing temperatures and hot winds have increased the problems of the people, especially for small children, it has become difficult to go out.

In the notice issued by the district administration, it is clearly stated that the Meteorological Department is continuously issuing warnings regarding heatwave, but some schools in the district are still open, which can have a negative impact on the health of the children. The administration has instructed all the officers to strictly follow the order. Besides, children have also been advised not to go out of the house during day time so that they can avoid strong hot winds.

Time table of schools changed from Delhi to UP

In view of the increasing impact of summer, many states have released the complete schedule of school holidays. It has been decided to keep schools closed in Delhi-NCR from 11 May to 30 June 2026. However, remedial classes are being held in the morning shift for classes 9th, 10th and 12th in the government schools of Delhi. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, summer holidays have been declared from 20 May to 15 June. Schools will remain closed in Haryana from June 1 to June 30, in Rajasthan from May 17 to June 20 and in Bihar from June 1 to June 20. In view of the continuously increasing heat, parents are also supporting this decision.

Also read: Parent-Child Relationship: After scolding children, parents should not make this mistake even by mistake, the relationship of trust may break.

Holidays have already started in many states

The effect of heat is clearly visible in South India and eastern states also. Holidays have been declared in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from 24 April to 11 June. In Chhattisgarh, schools are closed from April 20 to June 15, while in Odisha, holidays have started from April 27. In view of the scorching heat in many districts of West Bengal, holidays have been extended till May 31. The Meteorological Department is continuously advising people to remain alert. Doctors say that strong sunlight and heat wave can quickly affect children’s body, hence extra caution is very important at this time.

Return of El Nino may increase problems

Scientists believe that El Nino conditions may return again this year, although this has not been officially confirmed yet. If this happens then the temperature in the country may increase further. Along with this, there is also a possibility of increase in heat wave incidents and weak monsoon in many areas. This is the reason why governments and administrations seem to be alert than before. Keeping in mind the safety of children, the decision of school holidays has been taken so that they can be protected from the scorching heat and heat wave.

Heat Wave Alert: The heat is now becoming severe across the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning saying that in the coming days, a severe heat wave is going to hit many parts of North and Central India including Delhi. Due to continuously rising temperatures, crores of people may have to face scorching heat.

According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave conditions may persist in many parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Konkan-Goa till May 22.

Mercury can reach 45 degrees in Delhi

IMD has said that the temperature of Delhi may increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next three days. There is a possibility of partly cloudy sky, thunderstorms and strong winds at a speed of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour in the capital on Sunday. At some places the wind speed can reach 40 kilometers per hour.

The maximum temperature on Sunday is expected to be around 44 degrees Celsius. After this, as soon as the sky clears, the temperature may reach 45 degrees Celsius in the next week. There is less possibility of getting relief from hot winds even at night.

Temperature will increase rapidly in North and Central India

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature is increasing rapidly in North and Central India. The temperature in the western Himalayan regions may also increase by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. Skymet Weather President Mahesh Palawat said that instead of eastern winds, now north-western winds are blowing, which are coming from central Pakistan and Rajasthan. These winds are extremely hot and dry, due to which the temperature will increase further in the coming days and the possibility of heatwave has become stronger.

Heatwave alert will continue in these states

According to IMD, heat wave may continue in Rajasthan from 17 to 23 May. At the same time, heat wave will continue in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi from 18 to 23 May. A severe heatwave warning has been issued in some parts of Uttar Pradesh between May 19 and 23. Apart from this, heatwave conditions may prevail in Telangana from 17th to 21st May. There is a possibility of severe heat in some areas of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.

Relief from rain in Northeast and South India

While North India will be scorching with scorching heat, there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in the northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Strong winds and light to moderate rain are also expected in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh of South India. Light rain may also occur in some parts of Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. It has rained in Tamil Nadu.

What is heatwave?

According to IMD, when the temperature in an area increases much more than normal, then it is declared a heatwave. In the plains, which includes Delhi, heatwave conditions are considered when the temperature is 40 degrees Celsius or more and is recorded 4.5 to 6.4 degrees above normal.

At the same time, if the temperature reaches more than 6.4 degrees above normal, then it is considered a severe heatwave. Apart from this, if the temperature reaches 45 degrees Celsius or more, a heatwave is declared, no matter what the difference is from normal temperature. Experts say that this is not just normal heat but a dangerous situation, which can prove fatal for children, elderly and people working outside.

Be careful about health

Experts have advised people to be cautious. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. People have been advised to stay at home or in the shade from 12 noon to 4 pm, drink as much water as possible and wear light cotton clothes. It has been asked to use umbrella, hat or towel while going out. Along with this, an appeal has been made to take special care of the elderly, children and people working outside.

Stroke Risk: The problems related to climate change are no longer limited to just environmental problems like melting of glaciers or rising sea level. This is having a deep impact on our health, especially our brain. From increasing heat to changing weather and pollution, they are now directly linked to serious diseases like stroke. Experts have warned that now the risk of stroke is not limited to food habits or lifestyle only, but it is also related to the air and temperature in which we live. It is also becoming one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide.

Risk of stroke increases due to heat and dehydration

According to the report, extreme heat significantly increases the risk of stroke. In a new scientific statement from the World Stroke Organization published in the International Journal of Stroke, it has been told that the weather outside is now starting to affect the activities happening inside our brain. The reason for this is that when the temperature rises too much, water starts leaving the body rapidly, which leads to dehydration. Due to this, the blood becomes thick and the risk of blood clot formation increases, that is, the blood becomes thick and starts clotting, which can cause ischemic stroke. Apart from this, heat also puts pressure on the heart and blood vessels, which further increases the risk.

Also read: Can a person survive with just one lung? Know how to save life in severe pneumonia?

effect of suddenly changing weather

Often people think that this is happening due to heat, but in this situation, not only heat, but sudden changes in weather also affect the body. Rapid changes in temperature, humidity and air pressure can increase blood pressure, which becomes the main cause of stroke. On this, experts believe that when the body has to adapt itself to the changing weather again and again, it puts extra pressure on the heart and brain and the risk of stroke increases.

Danger of pollution and compound weather

After this, there are situations which experts call “combined events”, that is, a weather that brings many problems simultaneously. We are talking about increase in air pollution along with climate change. In such circumstances, these problems aggravate each other, causing greater impact on the body. Increasing air pollution with climate change also increases the risk of stroke. Vehicle emissions, factories and events caused by climate change such as forest fires and dust storms spread very small particles in the air which reach the blood through the lungs and damage the blood vessels, increasing the risk of blockage or bursting. More than 20 percent of stroke cases worldwide are believed to be related to pollution. Apart from this, when several weather conditions like heat and drought or cold and humidity come together, this danger increases further.

Which people are most affected and what are the solutions?

According to the report, this condition proves to be dangerous and sometimes fatal for the elderly, people working outside and those who are already weak or ill. Especially about 89 percent of stroke cases are seen in low-income countries, where the impact of climate is also greater, and they also have less resources to deal with it. Experts say that to reduce this threat, it is very important to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adopt clean energy and make people aware. Besides, there is a need to prepare the health system for weather related risks.
