Where was the security flaw found?

This bug has been found in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine, due to which this browser misreads some types of data during execution. This can cause memory corruption, taking advantage of which attackers can run malicious code on the targeted device. Google said that even before it discovered this flaw, attackers had tried to take advantage of it. Google’s Threat Analysis Group detected this bug on November 12. This is the seventh zero-day flaw of this year. This means that this has happened seven times in 2025, when hackers have come to know about a bug before Google.

Google is constantly working to strengthen the security of Chrome and has released a security patch for this bug as well. It is being rolled out for users. What was said in the warning?

This flaw in Google Chrome has been identified with the number CVE-2025-12036. Taking advantage of this, hackers can target systems running on Windows, MacOS and Linux. It has been said in the warning that users using versions older than 41.0.7390.122/.123 on Chrome and macOS and users using versions older than 141.0.7390.122 on Linux are at greater risk of this attack. This means that such users are the target of hackers, who have not updated their Chrome browser in recent times.

This is how users can be targeted

Due to a weakness found in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine, attackers can redirect users to Malicious websites. With its help, they can give any command as per their wish on the user’s system and install malware. Apart from this, there is also a danger of data theft and system crashing.

CERT-In has advised users to update Google Chrome as soon as possible. To remove these flaws, the company has released security patches and they can be installed by updating Chrome. For this, open Chrome and go to Help and click on About Google Chrome. If any pending update is visible here, install it immediately.
