Bay leaf ritual: Bay leaf is one such spice among Indian spices, which is known for its hot aroma and taste. But along with the kitchen, these leaves have been used in domestic rituals since ancient times.

In recent years, social media has once again made ancient trends very popular among people.

According to ancient beliefs, use of bay leaves brings good dreams and positive energy. Let us know the story of the ancient history of the ritual related to bay leaf.

Importance of bay leaf in Greek and Roman traditions

In old Greek and Roman traditions, bay leaves were considered a symbol of protection, wisdom and guidance. According to beliefs, keeping them near the bed before sleeping removes negative thoughts and also keeps the mind clear. Most people feel that bay leaf is helpful in preventing bad dreams and bringing peaceful sleep.

These beliefs come from ancient traditions, where people used aromatic herbs to calm their mind while sleeping.

Does keeping bay leaf under the pillow really help in good sleep?

There is no scientific evidence for this traditional remedy of bay leaf that it helps in better sleep and prevents nightmares. However, packing it in a small pouch and keeping it under the bed protects it from dirt and bacteria. Even today people use this remedy to get relief from stress and for a good purpose. This small nightly ritual is still popular among people.

In Hindu religion, bay leaf is associated with Mother Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. It is considered a symbol of prosperity, peace and purity. From Vaastu point of view, bay leaf protects from inauspicious planets like Rahu-Ketu.

This time in Ayodhya, big preparations are being made for the lunar eclipse on September 7. The time of eclipse will start from 9:58 pm till 1:26 pm. During this time, the extreme period of the eclipse will be from 11:05 to 12:05 pm.

According to Vedic traditions, the Sutak period starts about 9 hours before the eclipse. For this reason, the doors of all the monasteries, including the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple of Ayodhya, will be closed ahead of time.

Ram temple doors will be closed on this day

The Ram Mandir Trust has clarified that the temple of Ramlala will be closed for devotees after the afternoon Aarti on 7 September. After this, the doors of other major temples and monasteries of Ramnagari will also be closed.

During the period of Sutak period, neither the temples will be worshiped nor will it be allowed to worship. After the salvation period of the lunar eclipse i.e. the morning of 8 September, the doors of the temples will be opened again and from that time the devotees will be able to see Lord Ramlala.

This information given from the X account of Ram Janmabhoomi

Due to the lunar eclipse falling on Bhadrapada Shukla Purnima, Sunday 7 September 2025, darshan will be available in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple only till 12:30 pm. Thereafter, the doors of the temple will be closed and the next day on Monday, September 8, Mangala Aarti will open to the devotees.

According to the tradition, all the puja archana will be postponed in the eclipse period and special purification rituals will be completed after salvation period. After this, devotees will be able to see Ramlala again according to the pre -determined time.

Tradition has been going on since ancient times

In Ramnagari, this tradition has been going on since ancient times that religious rituals are postponed during the period of eclipse and sutak. After eclipse salvation, purification, bathing and special worship are performed in temples. This tradition will also be followed by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust and local priests.

Vedic scholars believe that religious activities are considered prohibited during the eclipse period. Therefore, the same rule will be applicable in all the major temples of Ramnagari. According to the trust, the doors of the Ram temple will be closed in the afternoon so that the traditions can be followed before the Sutak period starts.

You will be able to visit Ramlala on this day

After the eclipse ends, there will be special purification rituals in the temples on the morning of 8 September and then devotees will be able to see Ramlala at the pre -scheduled time. During this time, devotees coming to Ayodhya have also been appealed to follow Vedic traditions. That is, the temple of Ramlala will remain closed from the afternoon of 7 September and from the morning of 8 September, devotees will be able to take advantage of the darshan again.
