Iran US War: Issues related to Pakistan’s defense pact with Saudi Arabia may now drag it into the Iran war. While on one hand Pakistan is making efforts for a peace agreement between America and Iran, on the other hand, now the defense pact is facing it as a big problem.

Pakistan has deployed fighter jets in Saudi Arabia under the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement. On Saturday, when Pakistan’s fighter jets were landing at King Abdul Aziz airbase, on the same day Pakistan was hosting peace talks between Iran and America.

In this situation the conversation broke down. Now there is news that both sides are once again considering returning to Islamabad before the two-week ceasefire ends on April 21. If the talks remain inconclusive, Pakistan may be forced to accept its defense pact with Riyadh.

This pact has never been made public. Nor has the Parliament of Pakistan reviewed it. Here, Drop Site News reported that under the new pact, Islamabad has been clearly given the responsibility of sending military forces for the defense of Saudi Arabia.

What is included in the pact, and why will Pakistan have to agree with Saudi?

According to Drop Site News, the latest version of this pact was signed in 2025. It compels Pakistan to increase cooperation in operational defense support beyond training, deploying military assets and supporting the Saudi Armed Forces against any threat to its sovereignty or security. Apart from this, Pakistan is forced to send its army to Saudi Arabia after request.

This partnership between the two countries is not new. This had changed a lot in the last few years. Documents have revealed that the first confidential defense agreement was signed between the two countries in the year 1982. This military cooperation agreement was expanded in 2005 to include training and logistics relationships.

Made changes to the direct military defense obligation between 2021 and 2024. Its result came in the form of Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement. It was signed in 2025. According to the drop site, in August 2021, a summary related to the new changes in the agreement was sent to the then PM Imran Khan. The changes contain clauses that essentially oblige Islamabad to join Riyadh’s physical defense upon request.

Why was Imran Khan afraid of this pact?

The report said that this proposal remained on Imran Khan’s desk for a year. At the behest of the Saudi government, the threat that had to be dealt with was foreign or domestic. Drop Site, quoting senior officials, said that Khan was afraid of signing an agreement that could force the Pakistani army to take part in a foreign war.

After Khan was ousted from power, in February 2024, the military-backed caretaker government finally signed the summary of changes. After the new amendment, there was reportedly a heated debate within the army on its language. There is another reason due to which there is pressure on Pakistan. Saudi Arabia has given financial help to Pakistan’s unstable economy. The Kingdom still has more than $5 billion in deposits in the State Bank of Pakistan. Which are taken forward on time.

Amidst the worsening situation in West Asia and the Iran-America war, air connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia has once again been restored on Thursday (March 12, 2026). Indian aviation companies have restarted flights to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

A total of three flights were operated by Indian aviation companies on the first day of resumption of air services. Of these, two flights were operated by Air India and Indigo Airlines for Mumbai, while the third flight was operated by Air India Express for Calicut. With these flights, the medium to and fro travel between India and Saudi Arabia has once again been established.

How many passengers returned to India from Gulf countries in the last 12 days?

According to the data of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the total number of passengers returning to India from Gulf countries in the last 12 days from February 28, 2026 to March 11, 2026 was 1,50,457. Whereas on Thursday (March 12, 2026), a total of 57 inbound flights have been scheduled for India from many cities of West Asia – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh and Sharjah.

Ministry gave statement regarding air fares

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Ministry has made it clear that amidst the tension in the Middle East, the fares for air flights are also being closely monitored. So that air ticket prices remain reasonable and passengers do not have to face hassles and inflation without any reason.

Rent may increase due to these reasons

The supply of crude oil has been badly affected due to the war between Iran-Israel and America and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. Due to which the prices of jet fuel may also increase.

It is noteworthy that jet fuel accounts for 30 to 40 percent of the total operating expenses of airlines. Apart from this, about 10 to 12 countries of the world have closed their airspace, due to which planes are using longer routes to reach their destination.

America-Israel attacks on Iran continue. In retaliation, Tehran is attacking those Gulf countries where American military establishments are present. However, in these attacks, a hotel in Dubai was targeted and the latest case is from Saudi Arabia, where oil fields are also being targeted.

Meanwhile, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman met Pakistan Army Chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir in Riyadh. His statement is being seen as an indication whether now Pakistan will also join the war with Iran. During this, measures to stop Iran’s attacks were discussed under the military agreement between the two countries.

What did the Saudi Defense Minister say?
Saudi Defense Minister posted on X that he met Pakistan Army Chief and Chief of Defense Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir. We discussed Iran’s attacks on the Kingdom and the measures needed to stop them. This discussion was done under our joint strategic defense agreement. We emphasized that such actions undermine regional security and stability.

Iran has now intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia. Saudi Defense Ministry said that it shot down 6 drones, whose target was Shayba Oil Field. This oil field is a huge oil field located near the border of UAE. According to reports, 16 drones were fired in 4 separate attacks. These drones were shot down in the desert.

There was an attack in 2019 also
Let us tell you that this is the first time that Saudi Arabia’s oil fields have been directly targeted. Earlier in 2019, the same oil field was attacked but then this attack was carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels present in Yemen. Now Iran itself is carrying out direct attacks, due to which the danger has increased further. However, the Defense Ministry has not yet told where the drone that was shot down towards the oil field came from.

what did pakistan say
Pakistan has indicated that it is taking its defense agreement with Saudi seriously. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also made a revelation in the Parliament. He said that Pakistan’s diplomacy is working behind the reason why Iran did not attack Saudi Arabia recently or gave very little reaction.

After making strategic defense partnership with United Arab Emirates (UAE), now India is going to make a big agreement with Saudi Arabia in the fight against terrorism. On Wednesday (January 28), India and Saudi Arabia held high-level talks on security and terrorism in Riyadh.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the meeting took place amid regional and global security concerns and focused on counter-terrorism measures, legal cooperation and emerging threats. The third meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Security Working Group under the Political, Consular and Security Cooperation Committee of the Strategic Partnership Council was held on January 28.

‘Strongly condemn all forms of terrorism’
The Ministry of External Affairs said that a review was conducted regarding security cooperation and a comprehensive assessment of the threats posed by terrorist groups in their respective regions at the global level. Both India and Saudi Arabia strongly condemned all forms of terrorism, including cross-border terrorism. The authorities particularly condemned the terrorist attack on civilians on April 22, 2025, in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and the terrorist incident that occurred on November 10 near the Red Fort in New Delhi.

The 3rd Meeting of Security Working Group emanating from the ‘Political, Consular, and Security Cooperation Committee’ of India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council was held today in Riyadh.
What issues were discussed?
During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening cooperation to deal with current and emerging counter-terrorism challenges. These included countering extremism and radicalization, stopping terrorism funding, preventing the misuse of technology for terrorist purposes, and addressing the nexus between transnational organized crime and terrorism.

India has good relations with both Saudi and UAE
This conversation is also important because recently during the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to New Delhi, both the countries have signed a deal on Strategic Defense Partnership. Tension has been seen between India’s key partners UAE and Saudi Arabia over separate issues in Yemen and parts of North Africa. However, Indian officials have emphasized that New Delhi’s defense cooperation with Abu Dhabi is not against any third country but the agreement has been made keeping in mind the interests of India.

Saudi Arabia Grand Mufti: Saudi Arabia has once again made a big religious announcement. Following the royal decree of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Sheikh Saleh Al Fauzan has been appointed as the new Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia. This position is one of the most influential positions in Saudi society. Let us know what facilities and powers come with this post.

Power and prestige of the Grand Mufti

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia is not just a religious leader, but he is the highest authority of Islamic law in the country. This position is placed at the top of the religious and legal hierarchy and is given a lot of respect due to its direct connection with the royal family. The Grand Mufti serves as the country’s leading religious voice, providing guidance to citizens, institutions, and even the nation on matters of faith and law.

What facilities and special rights does the Grand Mufti get?

Although the Saudi government does not publicly disclose the benefits associated with the post of Grand Mufti and there is no mention of what his salary is, yet some special rights explain the importance of this role.

The Grand Mufti is given an official government residence which is commensurate with his position and helps him carry out official duties. Along with this, they are also given high level state security. Not only this but they are given full logistics and administrative support along with assistance in staffing, transportation and official travel. At the same time, the most important thing is that the Grand Mufti has direct access to the highest levels of power along with the King and the Crown Prince.

Responsibilities of Grand Mufti

The primary function of the Grand Mufti is to issue fatwas. Fatwas that explain Islamic law on matters ranging from personal behavior to government policies. Through these fatwas, both citizens and officials get guidance in following Islamic principles. Along with this, the Grand Mufti is also the Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, the most powerful religious body of Saudi Arabia. Along with this, he also leads the standing committee for Islamic research and issuing fatwas.

Another important function of the Grand Mufti is to support the Saudi leadership by providing religious legitimacy to royal policies. Their support often helps shape public opinion as well as maintain harmony between the religious establishment and the monarchy. Along with this, the Grand Mufti often gives religious guidance to the public. They participate in programs promoting Islamic education and awareness. His instructions are greatly influenced during Hajj.

Saudi Arabia has announced new visa rules for the pilgrims of Umrah 2025. Saudi Arabia officials have now made it mandatory for Umrah pilgrims to arrange for hotel booking and transport before applying for visa. This means that whatever pilgrims will apply for Saudi Arabia’s visa for Umrah, they will first have to share the complete information of their hotel booking and transportation. Only then will he be given a Visa of Saudi Arabia for Umrah 2025.

In fact, Saudi Arabia has announced this new rule so that the movement of pilgrims is better managed and they can be saved from housing fraudulent proposals. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Umrah operators are already appealing to their passengers to make their booking through Saudi Arabia’s official Nusuf platform or licensed agents before submitting a visa application for Umrah.

Saudi Arabia gave information about visa rules

The Haj and Umrah Ministry and concerned officials of Saudi Arabia have significantly tightened the entry rules for Umrah from this year, so that the approval of the visa, usually depending on the hotel contracts and evidence of the local transport system verified through Nusuk Masar and Nusuk Umrah platform.

This step is part of the widespread attempt to digital and set Umrah services, under which pilgrims coming to Umrah will have to upload or link verified booking before the visa is issued.

Steps taken to save pilgrims from fraud

Saudi officials said that this change protects the pilgrims from fraud and strengthens the crowd and housing management in the time of congestion and busyness.

Us President Donald Trump: Donald Trump has become the first US President who has publicly met a pre -declared terrorist leader. He met Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Shara, who was earlier known as Abu Mohammad Al-Julani. He has been the head of the notorious terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which was associated with al-Qaeda. It was declared a terrorist organization by the US.

The meeting took place when the US announced the removal of years -old sanctions on Syria. All this was possible because Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia appealed to Trump to do so. During the meeting, Trump said about Ahmed al-Shara that he is a young, attractive, strict person. In this way he publicly supported the former terrorist. Earlier, Trump announced a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

The story of Al-Shra who becomes an interim President from Jihadi
Al-Shara, which the world knew by the name of Abu Mohammad Al-Julani. His past has been associated with extremist, violence and war against American forces. He has fought with US forces in Iraq. For this, he has been in American custody for years. After this, he established HTS in Syria, the effect that he evicted Bashar al-Assad from power in 2024. Later, he changed himself as a leader by changing the hardcore Islamic image. He declared himself the head of the interim government of Syria. This change is being considered a strategy to assure Western countries.

What is the plan of Donald Trump?
American associate countries have called Trump’s move ‘signal confusion’. Human rights groups say that this is a dangerous example that a former terrorist is considered to be the major regime. Critics described it as betrayal with “principles of justice and security”. However, on the other hand, according to Trump, it is a broken country and Al-Shara has a chance to add it. He also discussed this with Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdoan, who shared a positive attitude towards Al-Shara.

Along with this, Saudi Arabia is also India’s third largest LPG exporter. There can also be talk on the issue of energy on Prime Minister Modi’s tour of Saudi Arabia.

Prime Minister Modi visited Saudi Arabia in 2016 and 2019 too –

Prime Minister Modi visited Saudi Arabia for the first time in April 2016. He met Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh. He addressed the Indian migrant community on this tour. Prime Minister Modi also went after this in October 2019. During this time he took part in the Future Investment Initiative Summit. On this tour, the issue of terrorism was discussed along with trade and investment.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that defense relations between India and Saudi Arabia are expected to further strengthen, including more military exercises and setting up a structure for high-level meetings.

Tesla showroom in saudi: Electric car maker Tesla opened its first showroom in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The company decided to open the showroom in Riyadh, Jeddah and Damam when its sales of cars have declined worldwide. The company’s CEO Allen Musk was heavy to work with the US government. Angry with their policies, many cars of Tesla were also lit in Europe and America, the showroom was also attacked. Along with all this, the company’s shares also declined.

Plan to open showrooms even in many more holes

Tesla’s Country Manager Naseem Akbarjada for Saudi Arabia said, “We are proud to be officially launched here today.” He also informed about the opening of the charging station in the three cities where the showrooms have been opened since Friday. Tesla’s showrooms will also be opened in many more cities.

Let us know that there is a strong diplomatic, strategic and business relationship between Saudi Arabia and America. Trump, along with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his first term, emphasized the relationship between the two countries. Crown Prince also promised to invest $ 600 billion in American trade and investment during this period.

How much is EV demand in Saudi?

In Riyadh and other cities, a large number of people came to see it as soon as Tesla’s showroom opened. By the way, the demand for electric vehicles in Saudi is negligible because one is low (2.33 riyal or $ 0.62) here and another is the reason why big oil-cheated cars are dominated in the blazing heat here.

According to Business News Outlet Al-Iktisadia, although Saudi’s EV market is still small, but last year it increased three times to about 800 cars. Saudi’s economist Mohammad al-Khatani may welcome Tesla’s move, but together he also said, “We do not want the showroom, we want a factory.” We want to be a part of the production process, not just a conjugation. ”
