Strictness in traffic rules: With the rapidly increasing road incidents in the country’s capital Delhi, Delhi Traffic Police is now going to tighten its grip against those who violate the rules. Where, now the new traffic challan rules will not only be implemented in Delhi, but along with heavy fines, the driving license will also be completely suspended against those who violate the rules.

Challan will have to be settled within 45 days

In fact, now according to the new traffic rules, drivers will have to pay the traffic challan within 45 days of receiving it. If this is not done, strict action as well as heavy fine can be imposed against the driver.

Delhi News: Traffic will be disrupted in Delhi tomorrow, diversion will remain on these routes, know what is the reason?

On the other hand, if a driver wants to challenge the challan in the court, then he will first have to file an online complaint and also pay 50 percent of the fine amount. But, special attention will also have to be paid to the fact that strict action will be taken against those who continuously ignore the challan, in which services like blocking of driving license and vehicle registration have been completely included in this new rule.

Those who continuously violate the rules are in trouble

Delhi Traffic Police is now tightening its grip against drivers who mostly indulge in overspeeding or flout traffic rules. Now the driving license of such drivers will be temporarily suspended. Giving information regarding this, many traffic officers of Delhi Police said that change is not seen only by imposing fine, but it becomes very important for such drivers to take tough decisions to improve.

Traffic Challan: If you do not know how many challans have been issued on your vehicle, then know how you can check?

It is important for people to be aware of security

Not only this, traffic police officials believe that road safety will not be achieved only by issuing heavy challans, but for this it is very important for people to be aware of themselves. No one knows how big a danger a small carelessness can pose to someone. But, being aware while driving on the roads and following the rules can also increase the awareness among the nearby drivers.

When you drive at high speed on the highway at night, small red or yellow flashing lights are seen on the road. Many people think of these as decorative lights, but in reality these small lights work to prevent major accidents. When the road becomes blurry in fog, darkness and rain, then these stud reflectors become the eyes of the driver. Let us know how they work and how much they cost.

What are stud reflectors?

The small raised plastic or metal pieces installed between the white or yellow stripes of the road are called stud reflectors. In common language people also call them cat’s eyes. Their purpose is to clearly show the road boundaries, lanes and turns, especially at night or in low visibility conditions. These reflectors are designed in such a way that they shine as soon as the light of the headlights of the vehicle falls on them. This lets the driver know whether the road is straight, has a turn or a divider is nearby.

Why necessary at night and fog?

Road lines are clearly visible during the day, but the situation changes at night. In the dark one has to rely only on headlights. When light falls on these reflectors, they give bright shine and clear the direction of the lane. They also play an important role in dense fog. Road markings get blurred due to fog, but reflectors reflect the light back to show the driver the right path. This reduces the risk of changing lanes or going off the road. They are used more on highways and expressways because vehicles move at high speed there.

How many types of reflectors are there?

Generally two types of reflectors are installed on the road – passive and active.

passive reflector

These are the most commonly used reflectors. There is no electricity or battery of any kind in these. There is a reflective sheet or a substance like radium inside them. As soon as the headlight light falls on them, they start glowing. These are cheap and also demand less maintenance.

active reflector

These have small LED lights. They automatically light up as soon as it gets dark and turn off when the day comes. Some models are charged by solar panels. They provide brighter light and are clearly visible from a distance. Therefore, they are used more in dangerous turns, hilly roads and high-speed zones.

What do the colors mean?

Reflectors are installed in different colors and each color has a different meaning. Red color is usually applied on the side of the road or near the divider, so that the driver can know the limit. Yellow or amber color is for lane change or divider warning. White color is used to show the line between the lanes.

The standards of these colors are decided according to international road safety rules, so that there is no confusion while driving in different countries of the world.

price and strength

The price of stud reflectors in the market depends on their quality and technology. Normal passive reflectors can start from Rs 300, while better quality or LED active reflectors can cost Rs 1100 or more. Their price is influenced by the material used, durability and power of light.

Every year thousands of people lose their lives in road accidents in India. In many cases, the biggest problem after an accident is not getting treatment on time or lack of money, due to which the condition becomes more serious. To solve this problem, the government has started PM Rahat Road Accident Victim Scheme. Under this scheme, cashless treatment up to ₹ 1.5 lakh will be given for 7 days from the date of the accident. It is not necessary for the victim to have insurance. Police verification will be completed in 24–48 hours. The entire system will be linked to the digital eDAR platform and payment will be made directly to the hospital through MVAF fund, so that the process remains fast and transparent.

Road accidents in the country are often linked to speeding, carelessness and breaking rules, but a new report has revealed the shocking truth. Most of the deaths are occurring in such accidents in which there is no major violation of traffic rules, in such a situation the question arises that if the driver is not at fault, then why are lives being lost? In this report, the reality of India’s roads has come to light, which has been ignored till now and this is the reason for road accidents.

What is the real cause of road accidents?

The joint report of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and Save Life Foundation has raised serious questions regarding road safety in India. According to the report, 59 percent of the people who died in road accidents did not die due to any traffic violation. This clearly means that poor road design, weak engineering and shoddy construction are also proving fatal.

The most dangerous time from evening to night

The report shows that 53 percent of the total road accident deaths occurred between 6 pm and 12 midnight. At this time, low light, fatigue and high speed increase the risk of accidents manifold. The special thing is that in these accidents, a large number of people were following the rules.

100 most dangerous districts of the country

This study focuses on those 100 districts of the country where maximum deaths occur in road accidents. Nashik rural district of Maharashtra is at first place in this list. After this comes Pune Rural, Patna and Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. According to the report, 89,085 people died in these 100 districts alone during 2023 and 2024, which is more than 25 percent of the total road accident deaths in the country.

India leads the world in road accidents

India ranks first in the world in terms of deaths in road accidents. According to statistics, there are only 36 percent road deaths in China compared to India and about 25 percent in America. In two years, 35 lakh people lost their lives in about 9.68 lakh road accidents across the country. This situation is a very serious warning for India.

In which states the situation is worse

It was told in the report that the highest number of dangerous districts is in Uttar Pradesh, where 20 districts are included in this list. After this there are 19 districts of Tamil Nadu, 11 of Maharashtra, 9 of Karnataka and 8 of Rajasthan. This shows that the problem is not just of one state but of the entire country.

Lots of roads, less security

India’s road network is the second largest in the world, whose length is about 63.45 lakh kilometers. This includes national highways, state highways and other roads. Surprisingly, about 63 percent of total road accident deaths occur outside national highways. This means that familiar roads and connectivity routes are proving to be more dangerous.

fixed locations of accidents

According to the report, most of the accidents happen repeatedly at certain places. 54 percent deaths were recorded only on 18 important roads of the National Highway Authority and the State Public Works Department. 379 such places have been identified on these routes, which are considered extremely dangerous.

Collision methods and fatal causes

Of the total deaths, 72 percent are related to rear-end collisions, head-on collisions and pedestrians being crushed. Talking about rule violations, 19 percent deaths occurred due to speeding, 7 percent due to careless driving and 3 percent due to dangerous overtaking.

Bad engineering became a major reason

The report has identified 20 common deficiencies related to road engineering. These include broken or weak crash barriers, erased road markings, concrete structures standing without protection, incorrect or broken sign boards and lack of adequate street lighting. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has also many times cited poor civil engineering and weak DPR as the major reasons for accidents.

What is the solution?

The report says that there is no need for new plans. It is important that the existing government schemes are implemented properly. There should be better coordination between road agencies, police and hospitals. Safety audit on dangerous roads, strengthening of police stations and improving the quality of ambulance services can be important steps.

The pollution level in Delhi-NCR, Noida and Greater Noida has reached a very dangerous level. AQI in Noida-Greater Noida has crossed 500, which falls in the serious category. In such a situation, people may now have to face a ‘triple attack’. First smog, second severe cold and third dense fog.

The problems of people already breathing poisonous air have increased further. With the increase in cold, dense fog has also set in. Visibility has reduced considerably due to fog and smoke on the roads. Due to which the drivers are facing huge problems. Vehicles are moving very slowly at many places.

People should take special care while driving – Government

According to the information, a few days ago there were serious road accidents due to fog and smoke on Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Highway, in which many people lost their lives. After these accidents, the administration and government had appealed to the people to take special care while driving.

Speed limit reduced on Yamuna Expressway

At the same time, considering the situation, the speed limit on Noida Highway and Yamuna Expressway has been reduced. Its objective is that vehicles move at controlled speed and chances of accidents are reduced. The traffic police is continuously monitoring and advising drivers to drive carefully.

Use fog lights while driving – Noida Police

Noida Police has appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel. Use fog lights while driving and maintain a safe distance. Experts say that this poisonous air can have the biggest impact on the elderly, children and people suffering from respiratory diseases.

Road Accidents India: The government is making many efforts to improve road safety in India. But despite this, road accidents remain a big problem. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has released a report regarding road accident. It has been told in this report that more than 1.72 lakh people died in a road accident in 2023. This figure is very shocking. That is, 474 people die every day on the roads. That is, about 20 people died every hour.

Most death in which state

If we talk only road accidents, then Tamil Nadu has the highest number of road accidents. But if we talk about death in road accidents, then the name of Uttar Pradesh comes at the top.

Top five states die in most road accidents

Uttar Pradesh has died in the highest number of road accidents in 2023. There have been 23,652 deaths here. After this, Tamil Nadu comes in second place. There have been 18,347 deaths here. After this, Maharashtra comes in third place and 15,366 deaths have occurred here. In fourth place, Madhya Pradesh comes to Madhya Pradesh with 13,798 deaths and in fifth place with 12,321 deaths to Karnataka. Let us tell you that the biggest increase has been seen in the death of those driving two wheelers. About 70% of these people did not wear helmets.

The main cause of road accident

In the report of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the main reason for the accident has been given to speed up and drive in the wrong direction. Along with this, ignoring security rules is also playing a very important role in death in road habits. The Indian government has set a target to work up to 50% of the road accident by 2030. But to get this, the general public will have to strictly follow the traffic law. Along with this, the government is also going to start a national road safety mission to monitor public awareness and accidents.

Nitin gadkari on road accidents: The increasing number of road accidents in India is not only causing loss of life and property, but is also causing huge damage to the country’s economy.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday (March 25, 2025) that there are about 5 lakh road accidents every year in India. This causes the country to suffer 3% of GDP.

Dreaded condition of road accidents
According to Gadkari, 4,80,000 road accidents occur in India every year. Of these, 1,88,000 people die. The most affected are people between 18 and 45 years old. More than 10,000 children (under 18 years of age) also lose their lives in road accidents.

Impact on economy
Road accidents affect not only the lives of the people, but also on the economy of the country. About 3% loss of GDP is only due to road accidents. Due to accidents, the government and citizens have to spend a large amount of money in medical, insurance and other expenses. There is also a decrease in wages and productivity due to accidents.

Major causes of road accidents
Gadkari said that the poor detailed project report (DPR) is a major reason for road accidents. There are important reasons behind poor road design and pits accidents. Careless driving, overspeeding and ignoring traffic rules also promote accidents.

Government help for accident victims
Gadkari said that to promote the help of accident victims, the government has decided to give a prize of Rs 25,000. He said, “We have decided that any third person who is going to help the victim of an accident, we will give him a prize of Rs 25,000. Also, if a patient is admitted to a hospital after an accident or accident, we can pay him a maximum of Rs 1,50,000 or 7 years for treatment from a doctor.”
