The central government is preparing to make a big change in the direction of making the rules related to driving license and vehicle in the country easy, digital and transparent. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is considering amendments in several rules related to driving licenses. Its aim is to save people from repeated visits to offices, simplify the process and improve road safety.

The government says that this change is being made to improve ease of living i.e. to make the everyday life of common people easier. Along with this, strictness will also be increased against those who break traffic rules, so that responsible driving on the road can be promoted. The government’s focus will no longer be limited to just issuing challans, but will be on improving driving behaviour. For this, it is being planned to take steps like penalty point system, expansion of digital services, and reducing procedural hassles.

Big relief for people between 40 and 60 years of age

According to the proposed rules, now people between 40 to 60 years of age will not be required to submit medical fitness certificate to get or renew a driving license. Till now people of this age group had to get a certificate from the doctor, which caused problems of both time and money. The government believes that this process causes unnecessary delays.

Penalty points will be deducted for making mistakes

In the new system, not only fine will be imposed for violating traffic rules, but penalty points will also be added on the driving license. These points will be directly linked to the license through the e-challan system. If a driver’s points exceed the prescribed limit, the driving license can be suspended for some time. There may be a temporary ban on driving. Its purpose is to stop people from repeatedly breaking traffic rules.

Insurance premium can also be expensive

The government is also considering linking penalty points with vehicle insurance, meaning that if a driver repeatedly breaks the rules, his insurance premium may increase. This will promote safe driving and put financial pressure on careless drivers. Aadhaar based authentication can be implemented to make the process of buying and selling vehicles easy and secure. This will reduce crowding in RTO offices, reduce paper work and prevent fraud and fraud.

Driving test and license process will be faster

The government aims to reduce delays in driving tests, license approval and other services. For this the digital system will be further strengthened. License holders will be able to update the information themselves. Now license holders will be able to update their mobile number, address and other details digitally, for which they will not have to visit RTO.

Scientific research also shows that if a driver listens to songs of his choice, his driving skills can improve and he remains more focused on driving. But if the driver listens to such songs which he does not like or has to listen out of compulsion, then in this situation mistakes are bound to happen while driving. In such a situation, people are not able to concentrate properly while driving, which can lead to a road accident.

New drivers are at greater risk

A surprising thing has come to light in the research conducted on new drivers aged between 20 to 28 years. According to research, new drivers who listen to loud music or songs while driving are more distracted. Such drivers also admitted that by listening to loud music, they often exceed the speed limit of the vehicle i.e. drive at high speed. If you are driving on a long route and listen to songs to relieve fatigue, then the effect of your favorite songs remains on the brain only for 20 to 25 minutes. After this this effect gradually disappears.
