Delhi Police has created a new history in the law and justice system by taking a big step under the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) 2023. This is the first time in the capital that despite the accused not being present in the court, charges have been framed against him under in-absentee trial. This case is related to the murder of 68 year old Ramesh Bhardwaj living in Narela area.

This whole matter started from 28 January 2025, when Ramesh Bhardwaj went to Narela and did not return home. His daughter immediately lodged a missing report with the police. Police investigation revealed that Ramesh’s old servant Jitendra Mehto was also missing since the same day.

Soon it also came to light that Ramesh had recently sold land in Mukundpur and had about Rs 4.5 lakh with him. He was last seen with this servant Jitendra. The case was suspicious and the police intensified the investigation.

Secret revealed through CCTV, call records and digital tracking

Delhi Police resorted to technical investigation. Scrutinized CCTV footage, viewed call records and traced the location. On February 12, during the digital investigation, the police got a big success and Jitendra Mehto’s son Abhishek was caught.

Abhishek broke down during interrogation and told that his father had killed Ramesh. He revealed that the body was thrown into a drain. When the police recovered the body, it was in a very bad condition and was found packed in a sack.

Charges can also be framed against absconding accused

Earlier in the old laws, cases used to get stuck for years if the absconding accused did not turn up, but changes have been made in BNSS 2023. Now under Section 356, the court can also frame charges against those accused who are continuously absconding and avoiding court proceedings.

In this case also Jitendra Mehto was absconding for a long time. The court declared him a proclaimed offender. After this, on 18 November 2025, for the first time, Rohini Court framed charges against him under in-absentia trial in Delhi.

After this decision, it is clear that now the accused will not be able to try to hang the case by absconding. Both the court and the police have such provisions, due to which the case can proceed and justice will not be obstructed.

This step of Delhi Police is not only important in this case but is also being considered as an example for the upcoming cases. This gives a clear message. One cannot escape by running away, the law will reach out and catch you in any case.

Threats have been made to bomb Delhi’s Saket Court, Patiala House, Tis Hazari and Rohini Court. After receiving the threat, security has been tightened in all four campuses and the campus is being investigated. The police have not found anything suspicious yet.

Apart from the four courts of Delhi, bomb blast threats have also been made in two CRPF schools. These include schools of Dwarka and Prashant Vihar. This threat has been sent through mail.

Threat sent in the name of Jaish-e-Mohammed

If sources are to be believed, in the threatening message sent to the court premises, it has been clearly warned that there could be a big explosion in the court campus. After the blast near the Red Fort, security agencies are not taking any such threat lightly. Therefore, as soon as the information was received, intensive investigation was started in all the campuses.

This email has been sent in the name of Jaish-e-Mohammed, considering that Delhi Police cannot ignore it at all.

Delhi blast accused appears in Patiala court

This threat is also being considered serious because the Patiala House Court where the bomb blast threat has been sent, is there today. Delhi blast The accused is also appearing. In such a situation, the police has become very alert.

People in panic after the blast near Red Fort

On the evening of Monday, November 10, 13 people were killed in a massive explosion in a car near Red Fort, the high security area of Delhi, while about 20 people were injured. This was a terrorist attack, the links of which were linked to suspected white-collar terrorist doctors of Jammu-Kashmir, Faridabad and UP. There is an atmosphere of panic among the people of Delhi since this blast.

Along with Delhi, security has been tightened in every state and investigation is being done from every angle to bust the terrorist module. Meanwhile, receiving bomb threats against big institutions of Delhi like courts and CRPF schools is being considered a big challenge for the security system.

In the Rouse Avenue Court, the lawyers have given Lt. Governor V.K. Strong protests against Saxena’s notification, in which policemen have been allowed to testify through video conferencing from police stations. Lawyers say that this decision is a serious threat to the judicial process and questions the transparency of the courts.

The lawyers allege that the decision to connect the police witnesses with the court through video conferencing is actually an attempt to weaken justice. According to him, if the policemen are not present in the court, then the investigation of the credibility of the witness will be severely affected. During the protest, a lawyer said, “The testimony should be face to face in the court. Witness’s conduct, her hesitation and the way to respond is all part of the judicial process. All this is not completely possible on the video.”

VIDEO | Delhi: Lawyers at Rouse Avenue Court Continue to Protest Against LG VK Saxena’s Notification Allowing Allowing Police Personnel to give evidence in courts from police stations via video conferences via video conferences.

V.K. Lawyers demonstrated against Saxena

Lt. Governor V.K. Advocates protesting against Saxena said that a fair hearing can be ensured only by the physical presence of police officers in the court. If the witnesses speak from the police station, is it a guarantee that there will be no pressure on them? The atmosphere of the court is different and the truth comes out there.

The lawyers also argued that the arrangement of testimony through video conferencing can provide unfair advantage to the police. Due to this, there will be a risk of increasing direct or indirect pressure on the witnesses. He says that this notification is an injury to the independence of the judiciary and violates the right to a fair hearing provided.

Lawyers shouted slogans on campus

The lawyers gathered in the Rouse Avenue Court premises raised slogans and demanded that the notification be withdrawn immediately. He warned that if the order is not canceled, the movement will be intensified. The protesting advocates said that we will not tolerate the agreement with the judicial process. Witnesses should appear in court, this is the tradition and this is the law.

The foundation of justice being shaken under the guise of administrative facility

It is worth noting that in a recently issued notification by the Lieutenant Governor’s office, it was said that policemen can testify in the courts through video conferencing only from police stations. The government argues that this will save the time of policemen and the hearing of pending cases will be faster. But the lawyers say that the foundation of justice is being shaken under the guise of administrative facility.
