With the change of captain of the Indian ODI team, ‘Rohit Sharma Era’ has ended. While announcing the Indian squad for the Australian tour, Ajit Agarkar said that Shubman Gill is being made the new captain of the ODI team, while Rohit will continue to play as a batsman. Meanwhile, India’s legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar says that soon more ‘bad news’ can come.

Sunil Gavaskar believes that the Indian team does not have to play much ODI matches till 2027 ODI World Cup. In such a situation, if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have to maintain their game fitness, then they have to be active in domestic cricket. In a conversation with sports, Sunil Gavaskar was asked whether any ‘bad news’ could come in relation to Rohit Sharma, then he replied yes.

Sunil Gavaskar said, “Yes, of course. If you (Rohit Sharma) are not committed, you are not able to decide whether you will be ready for the next 2 years or not, then be ready for Bad News. They also know about that if they only play ODI, they will need more practice and have to participate in tournaments like Vijay Hazare Trophy.”

The team comes first …

The Indian veteran also told that Rohit Sharma now only plays ODI matches, but Team India does not have to play more ODI matches till 2027 World Cup. In such a situation, Rohit Sharma will not be able to practice as much as it is for tournament like World Cup. Gavaskar said that it was decided to make Shubman Gill captain in the event of Rohit’s team not being fixed.

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has announced the squad for the tour of Australia on Saturday. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are included in the ODI team, but Rohit is no longer in the team as a captain. The BCCI has appointed Shubman Gill as captain, who was also given the captaincy of the Test this year. On being given the ODI captain Gill, former cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that Rohit gave 16 years to India and we could not give 1 year.

Sharing a video on his social media, Mohammad Kaif said, “Rohit Sharma gave 16 years to India and we could not give him one year. As a captain, 16 ICC events have won 15 in 15 ICC events. Only 1 match lost, it was the ODI World Cup final of 2023. The final match of the Champions Trophy was the final match of the Champions Trophy. India won in India. “

Rohit Sharma never did such a thing

Mohammad Kaif said, “Rohit Sharma showed that he took retirement after the 2024 T20 World Cup, let’s now give new players a chance. The new players should be given. He handled and taught and could not give them 1 year.

Shubman Gill shown haste in giving captaincy

Kaif said, “We removed him from the captaincy before the 2027 World Cup. We could not give him an additional one year, the captain who got us 2 trophy in 8 months. His name is not, Shubman Gill will handle. Gill will handle it. Gills are young and new, they can become good captains but what is the need to show hurry in everything. What is the need to tear it down?

India’s ODI Squad for Australia tour: Shubman Gill (Captain), Shreyas Iyer (Vice -captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Akshar Patel, KL Rahul (wicket -keeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammad Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, famous Krishna, Dhruv Jurlel (wicket keeper), Yashaswi Jaiswal.
