Actually, Rajasthan Public Service Commission was established on 22 December 1949. However, its story starts even before the formation of Rajasthan. In the year 1923, the Lee Commission had recommended the creation of a Central Public Service Commission in India. At that time, not much attention was paid to creating separate Public Service Commissions in the provinces. Therefore, the states had to manage the recruitment and administration of government employees at their own level.

When Rajasthan was formed, a new state was formed by merging 22 princely states. At that time, a system like Public Service Commission existed only in the princely states of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner. There were different systems of recruitment in the remaining princely states.

When was it established?

After the integration of Rajasthan, the need for a uniform recruitment system for the entire state was felt. Keeping this in mind, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission Ordinance was published in the Rajasthan Gazette on 20 August 1949. After this, on 22 December 1949, the notification regarding the establishment of the Commission was issued and from this day Rajasthan Public Service Commission officially came into existence.

With the formation of the Commission, institutions like Public Service Commission running in various princely states were abolished. The new commission was entrusted with the responsibility of recruitment, selection and other administrative work for government services in the state.

What in the beginning?

Initially the Commission had only a Chairman and two members. The then Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, Sir S. Of. Ghosh was appointed the first chairman of the commission. Later Devi Shankar Tiwari and N. R. Chandorkar was made a member. After this, former member of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) S. C. Tripathi was also appointed chairman of the commission.

RPSC has given a new pace to the recruitment process by releasing the written result of Sub-Inspector (SI) / Platoon Commander Recruitment Examination-2025 within the stipulated time. The Commission declared the result within about 75 days of the conduct of the examination, which is being seen as a fast process at the administrative level.

This recruitment examination was held on 5 and 6 April 2026. The number of posts in this recruitment under the Home Department has also been increased. According to the revised system, the total number of posts has now been increased to 1086. In these, the posts of Sub-Inspector AP Non-Scheduled Area have been increased from 896 to 957, due to which the opportunities for the candidates have increased.

How many candidates were disqualified?

According to the information released by the Commission, 1744 candidates who did not follow the rules given in the OMR sheet have been declared ineligible. According to the examination rules, if a candidate does not fill any of the five options given in more than 10 percent of the questions, he/she is considered out of the evaluation process. Roll numbers of all such candidates have been issued in a separate list.

Now there will be physical test, successful candidates will have to prepare

Candidates who obtain the prescribed minimum marks in the written examination will now be included in the next stage i.e. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Test. In this phase, the candidates will be examined on the basis of physical ability and fixed standards. After this the further selection process will be completed.

Keep checking the official website of the Commission for updates from time to time and start preparations related to the physical test in advance. Keeping information about document verification, fitness and prescribed parameters ready in advance can prove helpful in the selection process.

Under special circumstances, the Commission has withheld the result of one candidate due to administrative reasons, while the result of another candidate has been kept safe under a sealed process. This result, released on the last working day of the tenure of Commission Chairman Utkal Ranjan Sahu, is being considered an important phase of the recruitment process. Every year thousands of youth appear for the examinations of this commission and try to make their dreams come true. But very few people know when this commission was started, why it was started and who was its first chairman.

The story starts from the year 1923. At that time the Lee Commission had recommended the creation of a Union Public Service Commission in India. The objective was that government appointments should be based on merit. However, at that time no special consideration was given to creating a separate Public Service Commission for the provinces. Provincial governments used to make appointments according to their needs by making rules.

If reports are to be believed, times changed, the country became independent and the unification of the princely states began. Rajasthan was also formed by merging many princely states. At that time, out of total 22 princely states, only Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner had a structure like Public Service Commission. There was no uniform system of appointments elsewhere. In such a situation, the need was felt for a commission that could handle the recruitment process in the entire state in a fair and systematic manner.

When was the notification issued

The Rajasthan Public Service Commission Ordinance, 1949 was published in the Rajasthan Gazette on 20 August 1949. It was clearly stated in this ordinance that the Commission will come into effect when the notification related to the appointment is published in the Gazette. Finally, this notification was issued on 22 December 1949 and on this day Rajasthan Public Service Commission officially came into existence. That is, the establishment of RPSC is considered to be on 22 December 1949.

Who was handed over the command of the commission?

The then Chief Justice of Rajasthan, Sir S. Of. Ghosh was appointed the first chairman of RPSC. This was a special thing in itself, because a judge was given this responsibility, which clearly shows the impartiality and credibility of the commission. Along with him two members Devishankar Tiwari and N. R. Chandorkar was also appointed.

In the initial times the Commission was small, one Chairman and two members. But the responsibility was big. Selecting the right people for government services across the state was not an easy task. Later, former member of Union Public Service Commission S. C. Tripathi, IAS was also made the Chairman, which further strengthened the functioning of the Commission.

In the year 1951, some important rules were made to make the work of the Commission regular and clear. These included Rajasthan Public Service Commission Conditions of Service Rules, 1951 and Rajasthan Public Service Commission Limitation of Functions Rules, 1951.

In Rajasthan, there is good news for the youth who dream of a job in the police department. Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has announced recruitment to a total of 1015 posts of Sub-Inspector (SI) and Platoon Commander. The online application process for this recruitment has started and interested candidates can apply through RPSC’s official website rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in or SSO portal. Who can apply?

To apply in this recruitment, the candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university or institute. Apart from this, it is also important to have knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and understanding of the culture of Rajasthan.

Talking about age, at the time of application, the minimum age of the candidate should be 20 years and maximum age should be 25 years. Reserved category candidates will be given a discount in the upper age limit as per the rules. The age of age will be considered as the basis of 1 January 2026.

Physical ability

• Male candidate: The minimum length is 166 cm, the chest 81 cm without inflating and 86 cm.
• Women Candidates: Minimum length 152 cm and weight at least 47.5 kg.

Application fee will have to be paid so much

To apply, candidates will have to pay the application fee. General, backward class (creamy layer) and very backward class (creamy layer) will have to pay a fee of Rs 600. Whereas SC, ST, Backward Class (Non -Creamy Layer), Extreme Backward Class (Non -Creamy Layer), EWS, Sahariya and Primitive Caste will have to pay a fee of Rs 400.

step 1: First go to rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in or log in to sso.rajasthan.gov.in.
Step 2: Go to Citizen App (G2C) and choose Recruitment Portal.
Step 3: If you have not done one time registration (OTR), then first complete the OTR process.
Step 4: After logging in after OTR, go to the recruitment portal and fill the application form.
Step 5: Before submitting the application, check all the information well and pay the fees.
Step 6: After this, the candidates should submit the application form.
