A major change has been made in the rules for those buying old cars and bikes in the national capital Delhi. Now, after purchasing a second hand (old) car or bike in Delhi, it will be mandatory to transfer RC within 15 days. Strict and clear instructions have been issued by the government to vehicle dealers in this regard. Delhi Police will take strict action if RC is not transferred within the stipulated time. The accountability of both the vehicle buyer and seller will be fixed.

If the registration certificate (RC) of the vehicle is not transferred to the name of the new owner within 15 days, then legal action will be taken against the person concerned. This may include challan or other punitive action.

Let us tell you that on Monday (22 December), a high level meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta regarding pollution control in Delhi Secretariat. In the meeting, clear instructions were given to the concerned departments that the system of challan on vehicles without valid PUC certificate will continue strictly. No relaxation of any kind will be given in this subject.

With the aim of reducing the use of private vehicles, talks will be held with aggregator companies like Ola and Uber, so that pool and share bus services can be started and the pressure of vehicles on the roads can be reduced. Also, new arrangements are being made for the routes of DTC buses, so that services can be provided more effectively in areas where public transport is more needed.

Apart from this, new guidelines will be issued for e-rickshaws, so that their operation is streamlined and the traffic system in the capital remains smooth. Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and senior officials of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
