After the match, CSK captain Gaikwad said, “I had a great start, scored 10 runs in 6 balls, and then I thought I would maintain this rhythm, but then you saw that three wickets fell in quick succession in front of my eyes. I felt that a little partnership was needed, because the wicket was not playing well. After that we were trying to put pressure on a particular bowler, then one wicket fell, and then I thought, okay, let’s take some time, batting. And rotate the strike.”

Whom did Gaikwad hold responsible for the defeat?

Gaikwad further added, “On another day or on another pitch, I think I would have rotated the strike a bit more, but as I said, I was trying and it is obviously disappointing to see the number of balls on the scorecard and very few runs, but as soon as I got hit, I thought, I will just keep going. I will see how I can change my rhythm and even if I get out now, there are still about five-six overs left, so There’s not much left, so this was the moment when I thought I should start playing faster.”

Regarding Impact Sub, Gaikwad said, “I think we were batting very well, so we thought that after the powerplay was over when one or two wickets fell, we would field a bowler for the second innings. Mukesh Chaudhary was supposed to come in, but we lost two wickets early, so I think in the fourth over we had to bring a batsman in and then make sure that we score some runs. Unfortunately, that did not happen, but I think our thinking was very good. It was good.”

Regarding the pitch, Gaikwad said, “I really thought the pitch was a bit challenging, especially for the medium pace bowlers. The pitch was a bit slow and double-paced. The bounce was also a bit up-and-down, but I think if we had not lost too many wickets in the beginning, we probably would have reached 170 or 180, which would have been a competitive score. It was a bit difficult to play the shots.”
