The central government has made many changes in GST, giving great relief to common people and small businessmen. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Wednesday (September 3) that there are some goods which have been made tax free. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has called it historic. He also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech of August 15. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also reacted to the GST reform.

S. Jaishankar shared a post on social media platform X. He said through this, “Implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of Independence Day, the GST Council has decided to adopt the next generation GST today. This decision will have a big impact on the Parivartan Yatra going on in India. Efforts to improve the government’s livelihood and access to business will also have a big impact. Congratulations to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister for this historical achievement. ”

What did Gadkari say about GST

Union minister Nitin Gadkari said, “These reforms are a transformational step, which will give relief to farmers, MSMEs, small traders, women, youth and middle class, as well as ensure ease of doing business across India. It is not only a policy change, it is a step towards empowering citizens and strengthening our economy.

GST will now have 5 percent and 18 percent slabs. Apart from this, all slabs have been removed. The new GST will be implemented from 22 September. Along with changes in GST, medicines, some everyday essential goods and education related items have been made tax free. This includes milk, cheese, bread and chena.
