SAIL Rourkela vacancy 2026: Rourkela Steel Plant SAIL has released the notification of apprentice recruitment for 2026-27. Under this recruitment drive, candidates will be selected for a total of 1100 posts. The special thing is that there will be no written examination for recruitment to these posts. Selection will be done entirely on the basis of educational qualification, merit and document verification.

On which posts will there be recruitment?

A total of 1110 posts will be filled under this recruitment drive. These include 421 posts of Trade Apprentice, 414 posts of Diploma (Technician) Apprentice and 275 posts of Graduate Apprentice. One year apprenticeship training will be given on these posts.

Who can apply?

Candidates applying should have passed ITI, Engineering, Diploma or any degree in relevant stream regularly from a recognized institute. Only those candidates will be eligible who have completed their qualification in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. For Trade Apprentice, it is necessary to have ITI in the relevant trade, for Diploma Apprentice, it is necessary to have Diploma in the relevant engineering branch and for Graduate Apprentice, it is necessary to have a graduate degree in relevant engineering or non-engineering subject. Apart from this, candidates who have previously completed apprenticeship in any institute or are currently doing apprenticeship will not be able to apply. Candidates having experience of 1 year or more will also not be eligible for this recruitment.

Application last date and age limit

The online application process for this recruitment has started from 17th July and interested candidates can apply till 26th August 2026. Applications for Trade Apprentice will be made through NAPS portal, while for Graduate and Diploma Apprentices will be made through NATS portal. Talking about the age limit, considering 31st August 2026, the minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years and maximum 28 years. Reserved category will also get relaxation in age limit as per government rules.

How will selection be done without examination for recruitment?

No written examination will be conducted in this recruitment process. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their academic achievements. While preparing the merit, 30 percent weightage will be given to class 10 marks and 70 percent weightage will be given to the marks of relevant ITI, diploma or degree examination. Candidates included in the merit list will be called to Raukela for document verification. Final selection will be based on document verification and available vacancies.
