West Bengal Government Employees: The West Bengal government has given a big gesture of relief to the government employees and pensioners of the state. The government has made it clear that the outstanding DA money will be given and the work of the 7th Pay Commission is also being done to complete it within this year. With this, there is more hope that the long standing demand of lakhs of employees will be fulfilled.

In the program organized on July 21, the Chief Minister said that the government is continuously working on the financial matters related to the employees. He said that the terms of reference for the 7th Pay Commission have been prepared and after getting the final approval, the official setup of the commission will be done. After this, the commission will re-examine the salaries and allowances and submit its recommendations to the government.

DA will be increased gradually

The government also reiterated that the difference in dearness allowance between state and central government employees cannot be eliminated altogether. Considering the financial condition of the state, DA will be increased gradually. Recently the government had increased DA by 20%, due to which the difference between the two has reduced a lot.

Regarding the outstanding DA, the Chief Minister assured the employees that the government will release the pending money. But till now no definite date or time has been given as to when the outstanding money will be received. In such a situation, the employees will have to wait for the next announcement from the government.

After the implementation of the 7th State Pay Commission, not only the basic salary but also dearness allowance, pension and other service allowances will be re-looked. After getting the approval of the government on the recommendations of the commission, changes will be made in the salary system of the employees.

The special thing is that many government employees of West Bengal are still taking salaries like the old state pay system, whereas the central government employees are already getting the benefits of the 7th Central Pay Commission. For this reason, there is a difference in the salaries and allowances of both.

Employees’ eyes are fixed on the final approval of the government

The state cabinet has already approved the setup of the 7th State Pay Commission. Along with the state government employees, staff of municipal corporations, panchayats, boards and government schools and colleges can also be included in this commission.

Now the eyes of the employees are fixed on the official launch of the commission, its recommendations and the final approval of the government. Only after completion of all this work will the final order for payment of new salary and outstanding money be issued.
