In the Women’s World Cup 2025, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets. During this match, former Pakistan captain Sana Mir raised controversy by mentioning ‘Azad Kashmir’ during the commentary. Actually, while talking about Pakistani player Natalia Parvez, she told that she comes from ‘Azad Kashmir’. But this comment created a lot of ruckus in India, Sana Mir was also trolled fiercely on social media. Now the former Pak captain has given clarification on this matter.

While commenting, Sana Mir had said, “Natalia comes from Kashmir, Azad Kashmir. Most of the cricket plays in Lahore. She had to come to Lahore to pursue her cricket career.” Claims were made on social media that Sana Mir deliberately took the name of ‘Azad Kashmir’ during the commentary. Even demanded to be removed from the commentary panel.

Sana Mir cleaned

Sana Mir gave a clarification on this matter through social media and said that his point was exaggerated. The former Pak captain said that his statement was not going to hurt anyone and he is being exaggerated. He was adamant on her statement and said that during the commentary, she did not say anything inspired by politics and she was just talking about the facts.

He said, “I mentioned the hometown of the Pakistani player simply, so that I can tell how many difficulties they have reached here. These are part of the commentary, in which we say where a player comes from. I also told about 2 other players who come from other areas. I do not make it a political issue.”

In the Asia Cup 2025, the India-Pakistan dispute was not yet calm that a new ruckus arose in the Women’s World Cup. Former captain of Pakistan women’s cricket team Sana Mir was part of the commentary panel. During the match played between Bangladesh and Pakistan, he made a comment that took more political color than the game. The incident took place in the 29th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Natalia Parvez landed on the field for batting. Sana Mir earlier said that Natalia is from Kashmir, but immediately changing the statement and said that ‘Azad is from Kashmir’. Natalia comes from Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK), which Pakistan calls Azad Kashmir. The video of this comment started viral on social media, heavy opposition started in India.

Former captain Sana Mir gave clarification on the social media platform after the statement. He wrote on X (East Twitter) that it is unfortunate that my comment is being exaggerated and unnecessary pressure is being put on the people of the game. I want to clarify that the purpose of my point was only to highlight the background of a player and his struggling journey. The player I mentioned in the Women’s World Cup 2025 comes from a particular region of Pakistan and my intention was only to show their journey and challenges. During the commentary, we often share the inspiring stories of the players, irrespective of the country or region. Similarly, I mentioned that player, as I did for the other two players on the same day.

To be seen in the scope of the game-Mir
Sana Mir said that please do not politicize this comment. As a commentator, our job is to focus on sports, teams and players and bring stories of their courage and perseverance to the world. There is no maliciousness for anyone in my heart nor was it intended to hurt anyone’s feelings. This details were available in the source from which I took information on the background of the player. Later he has been replaced, but I mentioned his information. I request that it should be seen within the scope of the game.

In the Women’s Cricket World Cup, there is an important match between India and Pakistan next Sunday. Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan and made a big upset in the match played at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo. In this match, former Pakistan captain Sana Mir used the word Azad Kashmir during the commentary, after which there was a ruckus. Strict rules have been made to include politics in the game of ICC, due to which there is now a demand that strict action be taken against Sana.

Many people are demanding on social media how Sana Mir or any Azad Kashmir can use the word, they dragged political issues into sports and because of this they should have strict action. Many people are demanding a ban on them for a lifetime from commentary.

Why did Sana Mir say Azad Kashmir?

While commenting during the Pakistan vs Bangladesh match, Sana Mir said that cricketer Natalia Parvez is from Azad Kashmir. This is a disputed statement to say this. For political purpose, the part of Kashmir in Pakistan is called Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), but Pakistan calls it Azad Kashmir. While the lives of the people of PoK have become like hell, the people there constantly demonstrate against Pakistan. Now it has to be seen what action the ICC takes on it? What does Sana Mir say to the ICC that she happened unknowingly with them or she is adamant on her point.

A new controversy has emerged in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Former captain of Pakistan women’s cricket team Sana Mir has given a new controversy by referring to ‘Azad Kashmir’ during the commentary. Actually, this case is of Pakistan vs Bangladesh match played on Thursday, in which the Pak team was batting first and piled up for just 128 runs.

While discussing the background of Natalia Parvez in Pakistan-Bangladesh match, Sana Mir said that Parvez comes from ‘Azad Kashmir’. Indian fans have erupted on his statement and are trolling the former Pak captain fiercely. Jammu and Kashmir has been an integral part of India, but Pakistan has been claiming its claim on it for many decades.

Given the political relations between India and Pakistan, Sana Mir can become a big controversy in commentary because the Asia Cup Trophy Controversy is not over yet. In the Asia Cup 2025, 3 matches were played between India and Pakistan, in which the Indian team did not join hands with Pak players. At the same time, after winning the final, Team India refused to take the trophy from the hands of PCB chairman and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi. This trophy dispute is still going on.

Sana Mir, who mentions ‘Azad Kashmir’ in Pakistan vs Bangladesh World Cup match, would not even know herself that only 2 words she said will give rise to a very big controversy. It is so important that Indian fans are not seen in the mood to spare them on social media. An Indian fan demanded that Sana Mir should be dismissed from the commentary panel as soon as possible.
