The case of suicide of a female doctor in Phaltan Upazila Hospital of Satara district has now taken a shocking turn. The female doctor who committed suicide had written the cause of death on her own hand. Serious allegations of sexual exploitation and mental harassment were made against two people. The entire district police department has been shaken by this sensational incident. Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis took information about this incident from Satara Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Doshi. He ordered to immediately suspend the concerned police officer and take strict action against the accused. After this PSI Gopal Badne was immediately suspended.

What did SP Tushar Doshi say?

Satara Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi said, “We have registered an FIR in this case. The name of one accused is PSI Gopal Badne, who was working at Phaltan Rural Police Station. The other accused is Prashant Bankar, who is not a policeman but a common citizen. We have suspended Gopal Badne and police teams have been sent to arrest both the accused.” He further said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given instructions for strict action “The accused are to be arrested immediately and necessary legal action is to be taken, as per this order the investigation is going on at a fast pace.

Both the accused absconding – State Women Commission Chairman

Maharashtra Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar said, “This incident is extremely condemnable and outrageous. I have taken information about the matter. The police have registered an FIR. A case has been registered against both the accused, Police Inspector Gopal Badne and Police Prashant Bankar.” He further said, “Both the accused are absconding, two special teams have been formed to search for them and the police team has set out to search for them. After the postmortem report comes, many more facts will come to light, which will facilitate the investigation.” Rupali Chakankar said, “It is very unfortunate that those who are protectors have become predators. We will ensure that strictest action is taken against the culprits.”

Minister of State for Home Pankaj Bhoyar said that a woman from the Upazila office of Phaltan has committed suicide. A suicide note has been found, which contains the names of two police officers. I have spoken to Satara Superintendent of Police on phone and have given instructions to register an FIR immediately and take legal action. He said that action will be taken against whoever is involved in this incident. Whoever’s name comes forward after the investigation report comes, strict action will be taken against him.

She had written, “PSI Gopal Badne raped me four times, and policeman Prashant Bankar mentally tortured me.” Even the investigating officer was stunned after reading this. At present, the police have registered a case against the accused and are busy investigating.

Doctor was embroiled in controversies, had given warning earlier also

According to sources, Dr. Munde was embroiled in the ongoing dispute between the police and the health department for the last few months. It is being told that he had a confrontation with police officers during a dispute related to a medical examination. After this, a departmental inquiry was started against him. She had said in a written complaint to her superiors that if the injustice continued, she would commit suicide. Sadly, last night he took the very step that had been feared.

Police engaged in investigation, anger in entire district

After this painful incident, there is a stir in Phaltan and Satara police departments. Anger and resentment are being seen in the doctor community. The police have registered an FIR and started investigation. Women’s organizations have demanded the arrest of the accused.
