Despite this, he believes that the needs of humans will never end.

He gave the example of modern data centers which, once started, run almost on their own. These huge server rooms often keep working round the clock with the help of machines in the dark. But Nadella reminded that it takes years of hard work of engineers and designers to make them worthy. That means human thinking, planning and monitoring behind the scenes is always necessary.

Automation will change the way of working, not the jobs.

Nadella estimates that automation will increase very rapidly in the next 5 to 10 years and AI will perform many time-consuming tasks in minutes. But this does not mean the end of jobs but a change in the way of working. In his imagination, the future will be such where people will give big instructions to AI and AI itself will complete a major part of the daily work. Only when he faces any problem will he ask for guidance from a human being.

Nadella’s theory

Nadella calls this model “macro delegation and micro steering”. That means handing over big tasks to AI and deciding the direction of the final results with human understanding. This model will free people from cumbersome, repetitive tasks and give them more time for creative and strategic thinking.

AI will become helpful, not a replacement for humans

Nadella also said that creating, running and improving every automated system is not possible without humans. That’s why Microsoft is investing in tools like Copilot whose purpose is to make work easier, not to replace humans. His message is clear that AI will make work better but human sensitivity, understanding and decision-making ability will always be important.
