Just before the West Bengal elections, there is a ruckus in the opposition alliance ‘INDIA’. Congress MP Manickam Tagore has made a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Tagore has described as “irresponsible” Mamata’s statements in which she hinted at nexus between BJP, Congress and DMK. This dispute has come to light at a time when these parties are together at the Centre, but are fighting against each other on the ground of Bengal.

Congress leader Manickam Tagore wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that Mamata Banerjee’s allegations are completely baseless and condemnable. He said, “When we should fight the BJP unitedly, such baseless allegations will weaken opposition unity.” Tagore sarcastically reminded that it was not Congress but Trinamool Congress (TMC), which was in alliance with BJP in 1998 and 1999 and had also fought the 2004 elections in alliance with RSS-BJP.

Reference was made to Rahul Gandhi’s struggle.
While defending Rahul Gandhi, Tagore said that Congress does not need to learn from anyone how to fight BJP. He said, “Rahul Gandhi has continuously stood against the ideology of RSS and BJP. Because of this, more than 25 cases were filed against him, his Parliament membership was snatched and he was also thrown out of the house. He has paid all this for fighting BJP.”

Abhishek Banerjee also targeted
The controversy started when Mamata Banerjee accused Congress and Stalin’s party (DMK) of internal nexus with BJP in Bengal. After this, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee also opened the front and said that Adhir Ranjan Choudhary’s Congress is openly working to cut votes under the protection of Amit Shah’s central forces.

Struggle over leadership in alliance
Not only in Bengal, different voices are being heard regarding leadership within the alliance too. While leaders like Sagarika Ghosh are calling Mamata Banerjee the face of the alliance, Udhayanidhi Stalin is calling his father M.K. Pushing Stalin forward. These statements have raised big questions on the unity of the alliance before the elections.

Voting will be held in two phases in Bengal
The political temperature has risen for 294 assembly seats of West Bengal. Voting will be held here in two phases – the first phase will be held on 23 April and the second on 29 April. The election results will come on May 4. The main contest in Bengal is believed to be between TMC and BJP, but Congress and Left are also trying their best to regain their lost ground. In such a situation, this war of words between allies can affect the results of the elections.
