In Ayurveda, monsoon is called rainy season. During this time, the digestive fire of the body becomes weak. At the same time, due to humidity and moisture in this season, the risk of bacteria and infections increases. Dr. Reena Sharma, Ayurveda of Delhi, said that the digestion in the monsoon gets slow. In such a situation, heavy and oily foods should be avoided. Kadhi contains curd and gram flour, which is barely digested in this season.

According to Ayurveda, curry is made from curd, gram flour, and spices. It can be harmful in the season of spring and monsoon. Let’s know about the reasons behind this.

Curd increases phlegm in monsoon

The main ingredient of Kadhi is curd, which is considered a cooling food in Ayurveda. However, the moisture in the monsoon increases phlegm defects in the body. Yogurt can further increase this phlegm, which can cause problems like cold, phlegm, and sinuses. According to Dr. Anil Mangal, Ayurveda of Bengaluru, avoid curd based foods like curd in monsoon, as they can slow down digestion and increase phlegm.

Besan slows down digestion

Kadhi contains gram flour, which is heavy to digest. The digestive system in the monsoon is already weak and gram flour increases further pressure on it. This can cause problems like gas, blotting and stomach heaviness. Light and hot foods such as soup or khichdi are best in monsoon. In such a situation, things made of gram flour should be avoided.

Spices and oil increase bile defects

Oil and spices such as asafoetida, cumin, rye are used to apply a tadka in Kadhi. According to Ayurveda, more spices and oil can increase bile defects, which can cause acidity, heartburn and skin problems. This is the reason why eat light spices and low oil foods during the month of Sawan.

Danger of bacteria in moisture

Due to humidity in the monsoon, bacteria and fungus in yogurt can grow quickly. If Kadhi is not stored properly then this problem may increase. These bacteria can cause food poisoning or infection.

Extra load falls on the digestive system

Kadhi is a heavy dish, because it contains combination of curd, gram flour and oil. Digestive system in monsoon is weakened before and eating curry can cause problems like stomach heaviness, gas or diarrhea.

The Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rains are likely in West Bengal, Sikkim, Northeast India, Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and parts of Rajasthan on Monday. Light rains are expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rains at different places in East Rajasthan till July 15 and on 14 and 15 July in western Rajasthan. There is a possibility of heavy rains at different places in Jammu and Kashmir Himachal Pradesh till 17 July. Heavy rains are expected in Uttarakhand till July 19, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh on July 17 and 18.
