According to the bank, the interchange fees charged on ATMs and Automated Deposit cum Withdrawal Machines have increased. Due to which the bank has decided to increase the charges for this service. Interchange fee is the amount paid by one bank to another bank for ATM use.

Changed rules for salary account holders

SBI has decided to make changes for customers having salary accounts. Till now, salary account holders used to get the facility of unlimited free transactions from non-SBI ATMs. It has now been abolished.

According to the new system, salary account holders will be able to do free transactions only 10 times in a month. Which includes both withdrawing cash and getting balance information. After the fixed limit, the charge fixed by the bank will have to be paid on every transaction.

What changed for savings account holders?

No changes have been made by the bank regarding free transactions for customers having savings accounts. Like before, they will be able to do 5 free transactions from non-SBI ATMs. However, after this, you will have to pay a charge for using the ATM. There has been a change in the charges from the bank.

After reaching the limit of 5 times, you will have to pay Rs 23 + GST ​​for withdrawing cash. Earlier this charge was Rs 21. At the same time, the amount for balance check or mini statement has been fixed at Rs 11 + GST.

These customers got relief

The bank has given relief to the customers having Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account. For these customers, the old rules will be as valid as before. There has been no mention of any new charges being taken from these account holders under the new system.

Under the new system of SBI, if SBI customers withdraw cash from ATMs of other banks after the fixed free limit, then now they will have to pay Rs 23 plus GST per transaction. Earlier this fee was Rs 21 plus GST. Apart from this, now Rs 11 plus GST will have to be paid on non-financial transactions like balance check or mini statement, which was earlier Rs 10 plus GST. SBI has also clarified that there has been no change in the free transaction limit available at non-SBI ATMs for regular savings account holders. Like before, customers can do 5 free transactions every month from ATMs of other banks, which includes both financial and non-financial. New charges will be applicable only after this limit.

Rules changed for salary account holders also

A major change has been made in the rules for customers having salary package savings account. Earlier, the facility of unlimited free transactions was available on ATMs of other banks, now this limit has been reduced to 10 free transactions per month. After the free limit is over, salary account holders will also have to pay Rs 23 plus GST on cash withdrawal and Rs 11 plus GST on non-financial transactions.

Which accounts will not be affected?

• According to SBI, this increase will not have any impact on some categories of customers.
• There has been no change in the charges of Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account.
• Transactions using SBI Debit Card at SBI’s own ATMs will be completely free.
• Cardless cash withdrawal from SBI ATM will remain unlimited and free as before.
• Apart from this, Kisan Credit Card accounts have also been kept out of this change.
