Voicemail Scam: A new method of fraud is spreading rapidly across the country in which cyber criminals are sending fake voicemails in the name of RBI to trap people. PIB Fact Check has confirmed that this is a complete fraud whose real purpose is to grab people’s banking information.

How is the web of deception being spread?

In this fake voicemail it is claimed that some suspicious transactions have taken place on your credit card and if immediate action is not taken then your bank account may be closed. This message is designed to create panic, so that people hastily give their personal information like card number, PIN or OTP to criminals.

PIB Fact Check has clearly stated that RBI never gives any warning through voicemail nor asks customers to verify details on any unknown call.

How does RBI Voicemail Scam work?

Have you received a voicemail, allegedly from the Reserve Bank of India (@RBI), claiming that your bank account will be blocked as your credit card has been involved in fraudulent activity#PIBFactCheck

If you suspect any central… pic.twitter.com/REn8ZUFxlH

— PIB Fact Check (@PIBFactCheck) November 19, 2025

Fraudsters often spoof the number of a bank or government agency, making the call appear genuine. As soon as the person trusts the message and returns the call or enters information, criminals force him to give sensitive data in the name of verification. In many cases people lose their entire savings within minutes.

How to avoid this new voicemail scam?

The most important way to stay safe from this scam is to not trust any unknown call or voicemail, even if it is in the name of RBI, bank or government. RBI and banks never ask for personal information through phone or message.

If any message mentions closure, blocking or emergency of your account, first confirm the information by calling the official number of your bank directly. Keep your bank alerts active and always keep your mobile number updated so that security messages are received on time.

How to report PIB Fact Check?

To prevent misinformation and fraud, PIB has appealed to citizens to report any suspicious messages to their official channel. You can get verified by sending photo, video or text on these mediums.

WhatsApp: +91 8799711259

Email: factcheck@pib.gov.in

PIB team will check the message and tell you the correct facts so that you can stay safe from any online fraud.

New and unique scams are being seen in India and one of them is e-challan scam, which is spreading rapidly among the vehicle owners. In this, an e -procession is sent in the name of “mparivahan” or “RTO” through WhatsApp or SMS. The information and writing format of writing as soon as you open the message will make you feel absolutely valid, but it is actually a message sent by the scammers, which can completely vacate your bank account.

In this new e-challan scam, a file is also sent along with the text associated with the challan, which should actually be in the PDF format, but it is an APK file, which if you download and install in your phone, then understand that the entire control of your phone can go to the scammer’s hand. Below we are giving you complete information about this scam.

How does this e-challan scam work?

The user receives an ecchaelan message through WhatsApp, in which the name Bakayat M-Parivahan is seen.

The message begins with ‘Vioolation Case’ or such words and then in a long message the challan number, day and date, location, amount of challan, everything is written in such a way that it is as if it is sent by RTO.

It is also written that fill E-Challan with the official website and app of the Transport Department or in the nearest traffic police office.

However, the real scam is not here, but from a file with this message.

A file is sent in this message, which is named E-Challan Report, Parivahan, Challan etc.

This is not a PDF extension, but a file with APK extension.

APK is used for extension apps, which simply means that it is a fake, malicious app, which can be installed in your phone as soon as it is downloaded.

After installing, this fake app can help scammers to access your phone’s SMS, call log and OTP or give it remote access. In this way your private details may be stolen or your bank account may be empty.

Measures to avoid e-challan scam

As soon as such a message comes, first report it and block the number. You can also complain about the number from the Indian Cyber Cell (1930).

Avoid downloading the file found in any kind of SMS or Whatsapp messages.

If there is a link instead of the file, do not forget to tap on it.

Always check or pay your challan on the website of the traffic police of your state or through the Parivahan portal.

Keep Google Play Protect on your Android phone and disable the option to install the app from Unknown sources.<!--

The American technology company Google aims to stop the cybercrime of about Rs 20,000 crore in India this year. Last year, there were frauds worth about Rs 1,087 crore associated with Unified Payment Interface (UPI) in the country. Millions of scams and forged advertisements have already been blocked before Google’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool.

A media Report According to, Google has introduced its detailed safety charter for India. This includes remedies for security of artificial intelligence (AI) support from which people of the country can avoid cybercrimes up to Rs 20,000 crore this year. To cheat people, scammers have increased the use of AI generated content and deepfac. This Safety Charter of Google consists of three major points. These are to protect users from online fraud, increase cyber security for public infrastructure and to carry forward AI in a responsibility manner.

About 17.7 million users have been made aware about fraud through Google’s Digikavach program. This awareness program will be expanded in partnership with the Central Government’s Cyber Crime Cordination Center (I4C). Google’s VP and Country Manager in the country, Preti Lobana said, “Digital ecosystem can only become a source of growth when people using it feel safe.” The company’s AI systems are providing effective results on their consumer platforms. Google’s messages are securing users with more than 50 crore suspicious messages every month through AI powered scam detection. Google Pay has displayed around 4.1 million transactions for fraud.

The company’s search engine is holding the scam pages 20 times more than before. The Google Play Protect has blocked about six crore attempts to install higher risk apps since its launch in October last year. With this, more than 1.2 crore devices have been saved from malware. Last year, Google removed about 24.7 million fraud ads. Apart from this, about 29 lakh accounts were blocked due to violation of the company’s policy.
<!--

International Crypto Exchange after this report is published Binance But the price of bitcoin fell more than 2.70 percent to about $ 1,04,670. Earlier this week, Bitcoin crossed the $ 1,10,000 level. The second largest cryptocurrency Ether had a loss of about nine percent. The Ether’s price was trading at $ 2,510. Apart from this, the prices of Solana, Polkadot, Cardano, Monero, Stellar and XRP have fallen. There have been liquidations worth more than $ 1.4 billion due to increased tension in the middle East. However, investment is being done in exchange traded funds (ETF).

The cases of scams associated with the Crypto segment have increased. The ways of cheating the investors of scammers are also changing. Scams are also using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to cheat investors. Crypto Exchange Bitget has reported in its anti-scam report that the International Crypto scams have lost about $ 4.6 billion in the last year. This report states that the methods of fraud of scammers are also changing and they are also using deepfec technology with social engineering scams. This report has been prepared with inputs to meet the blockchain security firms Slowmist and Elliptic. <!--

Bharti Airtel, one of the big telecom companies, has claimed that it has blocked 1.80 million forged links within just 25 days of launching the advanced fraud-detection system. The company has said that about 3 million users have been protected from fraud by blocking these links.

Bharti Airtel said, “Advanced system scans and filters have been enabled on SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, email and other browsers in an automatic way for all mobile and broadband customers of the company. It is blocked in less than 100 millisecakes of harmful sites. ” “We are proud to introduce fraud detection solution, Tarun Virmani of CEO (Tamil Nadu and Kerala) of Bharti Airtel. This will protect our customers from risk. Digital dangers are getting more advanced and wide and also increased the need for a strong and safe mobile network.”

This solution of the company operates in the background. This does not require any installation and it is free. Recently, Bharti Airtel gave a contract to Nokia and Qualcomm to improve its 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) and WiFi solutions. Under this contract, Manufacturing will be done in the country according to the ‘Make in India’ mission of Nokia’s 5G FWA and Wi-Fi 6 access points of Finland.

This will increase the availability of broadband in areas where fiber connectivity is not limited or available. Bharti Airtel will be supplied to Nokia its 5G FWA outdoor gateway receiver and Wi-Fi 6 access points. These devices will use the modem-RF and Wi-Fi 6 chipset of Qualcomm. Bharti Airtel is preparing to increase the coverage of its 5G network. The company plans to increase coverage to meet the increasing demand for data. Along with this, the company has decided not to invest in 4G network. Bharti Airtel has a 5G base of more than 12 million subscribers.
<!--
