Burman Saheb had also done it ‘OK’ after recording, but after a few days he called Lata Mangeshkar and said that he wants to record this song again, because he feels that there may be some more improvement in it. Lata Mangeshkar was going on a journey at that time, so she refused.

Burman Saheb felt bad to refuse him and he was so angry that he did not do any work with Lata Mangeshkar for the next five years. This resentment ended when his son, Rahul Dev Burman (Pancham Da), insisted on singing Lata Mangeshkar in his first film ‘Chhota Nawab’ (1962). It was difficult to postpone the point of Pancham da and thus Burman Saheb reconciled Lata. After this, both of them worked together on many memorable songs.

The Government of India honored him on many forums for his achievements. In 2007, a postage stamp was also released in his honor. The Tripura government also offers SD Burman Memorial Award every year. He died on 31 October 1975.
