SEBI (Indian market regulator) has issued a new Special Discount Proposal, under which now companies or governments issuing bonds will be able to give higher interest rate or discount on the issue price to certain investors. Its objective is that retail investors, especially women and senior citizens, invest more in the bond market. Under this proposal of SEBI, investors who buy long duration bonds of 5 to 10 years can get cashback, discount in fees or other benefits. But remember – this benefit will be available only to first-time bond buyers. If you sell the bond later, the new buyer will not get this discount. This step of SEBI is being considered as a big and positive change towards increasing people’s participation in the debt market. Will this step change the thinking of Indian investors?

UIDAI has made the Aadhaar card update process easier — now you will be able to update name, address, date of birth and mobile number online, only visiting the center for biometrics information. SEBI has brought new rules for investors – now AMC officials will have to give information about transactions of more than ₹ 15 lakh.
