Us tarifs on india: US President Donald Trump has indicated that the US can avoid imposing secondary tariffs (secondary tariffs) on the countries continuing to buy crude oil from Russia. It was feared that if Trump took this step, India could have been badly affected.

Trump signs of softness

President Trump said on Friday – “Well, he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) has lost a big oil customer like India, which imported about 40 percent oil. China, as you know, is importing too much… and if I imposed a secondary ban or secondary duty, it would be very destructive to them if I had to do it. If I had to do it, I would probably do not do it.

Trump made this statement to ‘Fox News’ in ‘Air Force One’ while going to Alaska for an important summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting was aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war, but ended without any consent.

US Finance Minister Scott Besent said in an interview to ‘Bloomberg’ on Wednesday that if the conversation between Trump and Putin did not succeed in the summit, India could be imposed secondary sanctions due to buying oil from Russia. He said, “I think everyone is disappointed with President Putin. We hoped that he would talk more openly, but it did not happen.”

50 percent tariff will be applicable from August 27

Significantly, President Trump had announced a total of 50 percent fee on India last week. It also includes 25 percent additional fee levied on continuing oil purchases from Russia. This punitive fee will be effective from August 27. Reacting to this, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that targeting India is unfair and indispensable. The ministry clarified, “Like any major economy, India will take all necessary steps to protect its national interests and economic security.”

Sergey lavrov on trump tariff: US President Donald Trump threatened Russia to put a 50 -day ultimatum to end 100% tariffs to end the Ukraine War. Within 24 hours of this statement, Russia replied that it is fully ready to deal with any new ban. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov reacted sharply to Trump’s threat during a meeting of SCO Foreign Ministers in China.

Willing to deal with new restrictions – Lavarov
Talking to reporters at the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in Tianjin, China, Lavrov said, “We have no doubt that we will face new restrictions.” Along with this, he questioned the intention of Trump and said, “We want to understand what spirit that the US President is inspired by the spirit.

What did Trump say?
On Monday, Donald Trump had said, if Russia does not reach any agreement to end the war in 50 days, we will put very strict tariffs- up to 100%. You can call them secondary tariffs. He further said, we are very angry with Russia. When asked about Putin, Trump said, I do not want to say that he is a killer, but he is a ‘tough man’.

Ukraine’s loss so far in war
According to the Reuters report, the US says that 12 lakh people have been injured or killed in the Ukraine War so far. However, none of Russia and Ukraine have given official numbers.

Russia’s retaliation- Ultimateum rejected
Russian Deputy Minister Ryabkov said on Tuesday, “We first want to clarify that any kind of threat or ultimatum is not acceptable for us.” Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov said, the recent statement of the US President is very serious. Some of these things are directly related to President Vladimir Putin. He also said that we need some time to analyze the rhetoric coming from Washington.
