US President Donald Trump, changing his stance on the Russia-Ukraine war, indicated on Thursday that he is now in favor of “allowing Ukraine” to fight “. After meeting Putin in Alaska, Trump said that war cannot be won only by defense and “interesting time is coming.”

Trump’s changed trend
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that war against any “invading country” can not be won only by defense. Giving examples, he said that as if a magnificent team has good defense, but if it is not allowed to attack, then victory is impossible. However, he did not directly call Russia a “invading country”.

Biden directly attacked

Trump, while targeting the President Joe Biden, said that he allowed Ukraine only to rescue, not to attack. Trump said- “If I were President, this war would never have started. It was zero probability.”

Statement after Alaska summit
Recently, his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska could not reach any concrete result. After this, Trump met Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonsky and said that if everything goes well, a triple talk will be held. He emphasized permanent peace, not a short -term agreement.

No American soldiers will be sent
Trump also clarified that America would not send its soldiers to Ukraine. However, he claimed that European allied countries wish that they should send soldiers to Ukraine under security guarantee. Trump said that America is ready to help in other ways.

Strict objection of Russia
Russia again reiterated that it would oppose any Western military deployment in Ukraine. Russian External Affairs Minister Sergei Lavarov said that serious discussion on security guarantees is not possible without Russia’s participation. He said- “It is useless to talk about security guarantee without Russia.”

War continues, Russia’s missile attack
Meanwhile, Russia attacked a missile at an American -owned electronics factory in Mukachevo city of Western Ukraine. At least 15 people were injured in this attack and the factory suffered heavy losses. Ukrainian officials confirmed this, while the US media NPR also reported it.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his conditions to end the war with Ukraine. He has demanded that Ukraine leave the eastern Donbas region, abandon the ambitions to join NATO, remain neutral and keep Western soldiers out of the country. Three sources familiar with Kremlin gave this information to the Reuters.

The Russian President met Donald Trump in Alaska on Friday (August 15, 2025), where it was the first Russia-US summit after more than four years. According to sources, the possible agreement on Ukraine was discussed most of the time in a close room meeting of about three hours. After the meeting, Putin, who was standing with Trump, said that the talks can open the path of peace in Ukraine, but the two leaders did not make the details of the conversation public. The three sources gave information on the condition of anonymity due to being a sensitive issue.

Russian proposal ‘adjusted’ with the demands of June 2024

According to sources, Putin has softened the stance compared to the entire sacrifice of Donatsk, Luhansk (Overall Donbas), Kherason and Zaporizia. In the new proposal, Russia wants Ukraine toilet from the remaining parts of Donbas, while the existing fronts in Zaporizia and Kherason should be ‘stabilized’. According to American assessment and open-source maps, Russia controls about 88% of Donbas and 73% of Zaporizia-Khergason. According to sources, as part of the Moscow agreement, the small parts of the Kharkiv, Sumi and Dnipetrovsk are ready to return to Ukraine.

Ban on NATO, army restrictions and Western soldiers
There has been no change in Putin’s other conditions. These conditions states that Ukraine leaves the desire to join NATO, give a legal guarantee of NATO to grow and not moving, the Ukrainian army should be some limits and western ground soldiers should not be deployed in Ukraine even in the name of peace and protection.

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that any compromise to end the attack on Russia’s Ukraine and Vladimir Putin will not be held in the Alaska meeting on Friday, but in the second, three -way meeting which will also include Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsci. Trump said that the Alaska meeting will mainly create an atmosphere for the next phase.

Second meeting will be decisive
Talking to Fox News Radio, Trump said, “The second meeting will be very important, because there will be a compromise there. I do not want to use the word ‘divided’, but to some extent it is not even a bad word.” He estimated that the meeting with Putin on Friday is 25% likely to fail.

Importance of Alaska Summit
Alaska meeting will be Putin’s first American visit in 10 years. It will be held on August 15 at Joint Base ElineDorf Richardson, Encourage, Alaska. This place holds historical significance, as Russia sold Alaska to America in 1867 and its western end is beyond the merit with Russia.

Meeting program
According to the Kremlin, the meeting will start from 11:30 am (local time) Trump and Putin’s one -onon conversation, then the delegation level meeting will be held and then a joint press conference. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levit said that it would be a “Lying Exercise” to better understand the intentions of Trump Putin.

American and Ukrainian stance
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that any peace agreement should include “security guarantee” for Ukraine and hoped for early progress. Recently, Jailonsky discussed five principles with Trump and European leaders, including a ceasefire. However, no Ukrainian officer will be present in the Alaska meeting. Trump said that he would call Jailonsky after meeting Putin.

Possible conditions of Putin
According to the New York Times report, Putin’s terms may include the recognition of Russia’s control over Eastern Ukraine, keeping Ukraine out of NATO, limiting his army and ensuring a Moscow -backed government in Kiev. Trump, who promised to end the war in 24 hours during the election campaign, connects his peace initiative with the ambition to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
