Bangladesh court has convicted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of firing on unarmed civilians and crimes against humanity. The court has sentenced him to death. The court found that Sheikh Hasina had ordered the use of lethal weapons and drones to suppress and kill the protesters. Due to this serious crime he has been sentenced to death. The court also said in its decision that crimes against humanity were committed on the orders of Sheikh Hasina and her associates.

The court said in its decision that under the first charge, Sheikh Hasina did not fulfill the responsibility of handling the situation and stopping the violence. The evidence also revealed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) could be guilty in this case. The court told that after July 19, continuous meetings were held at the Home Minister’s residence, in which instructions were given to suppress the student movement. Sheikh Hasina ordered a core committee to target the protesters, while Awami League supporters actively harassed the protesters. During interrogation by the IGP, he admitted his involvement in the alleged acts.

The court presented a total of 54 witnesses

The court heard the statements of a total of 54 witnesses and said that this number is sufficient. Evidence received from across the country and additional evidence from various sources were also examined. Also, the report of the United Nations agency was studied and it was concluded that crimes against humanity were committed on the orders of Sheikh Hasina and the Home Minister.

What did the Chief Justice of ICT say during the hearing?

ICT Chief Justice said during the hearing that Sheikh Hasina had given orders to kill the protesting students and other citizens. The court said that in a phone conversation with the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, Hasina gave instructions for violent action and insulted the students, which further incited the protests.

The tribunal made it clear that Hasina’s statements were derogatory and inciting violence. He deliberately planned to take people’s lives through his orders. The court also has records of the conversation between Hasina and the vice-chancellor of the university, which confirm her orders.

Meghalaya Police has filed a charge sheet against 8 people, including his wife Sonam, in the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi this year. The Meghalaya Police has filed a 790 -page charge sheet in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. This charge sheet was filed in Sohra Court, in which the names of five prominent accused have been revealed. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has clarified after a thorough investigation that the murder was done under a planned conspiracy.

Sonam made a plan three times before
In the charge sheet, Sonam Raghuvanshi, wife of King Raghuvanshi and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha have been made the main accused. Apart from this, three killers – Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi were also accused. SIT officials said that the love story of Sonam and Raj Kushwaha continued even after marriage. A few days after marriage, he started planning to kill the king. The charge sheet states that Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha tried to kill King Raghuvanshi three times, then finally succeeded in murder.

Married on 11 May this year
Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam were married on 11 May in Indore. Nine days after the wedding, that is, on May 20, the couple reached Shillong and traveled from there to Sohra. On May 23, after checking out from Nongriyat Homestay, three killers attacked the king with a sharp weapon under the conspiracy of Sonam and Raj Kushwaha near Y Savdong Falls. During this, Sonam was also present on the spot. After the murder, the body was thrown into the ditch. After several days of discovery, the body of King Raghuvanshi was recovered from a deep moat in Arraliang Riyat Kunongrim in Umbalai, near the famous Wei Savdong waterfall in Sohra on June 2.

Arrest after investigation
The SIT arrested Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha and three killers from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh within a week after investigating the entire case. Apart from this, three other associate accused – Silom James (Property Dealer), Lokendra Tomar (Flat owner) and Balbir Ahirwar (Security Guard) were also arrested. All three were accused that they had helped in eradicating and hiding evidence. At present, all three accused are out on bail.

According to the statement issued by the police, allegations have been made against Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha, Akash Singh Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi under sections 103 (1) (murder), 238 (A) (eradication of evidence) and 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy).

King Raghuvanshi’s family’s response
Raja’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi welcomed the filing of charge sheet. Talking to the media, he said, “We have not received the charge sheet yet, but I will go to Meghalaya on Monday. He also alleged that Sonam’s brother Govind had previously promised to provide justice to the family, but now Sonam is contacting in jail. He said, “Govind has cheated us and is supporting his family.”
