Jeevan Gowda, a 21-year-old student in a private engineering college in Bengaluru, raped his fellow student. This shameful incident has shaken the entire Karnataka. However, investigation revealed that there was no CCTV camera at the incident site, due to which there were difficulties in gathering evidence. Police are now examining digital and forensic evidence. The accused has been sent to judicial custody.

This incident has created an upheaval in the politics of the state. The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the state’s ruling Congress government of law and order failure.
