Pakistan has been openly supporting Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup controversy. From Rashid Latif to former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi, all of them have criticized the ICC and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Now the name of former cricketer Shahid Afridi has also been added to this list, who has raised questions on the impartiality of ICC.

Shahid Afridi is forcefully dragging India’s name

Shahid Afridi said through social media that ICC has not taken a fair decision. He gave the example of the time of Champions Trophy 2025, when the Indian team had refused to go to Pakistan due to security reasons. He says that Bangladesh was treated differently as compared to India.

Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi said, “Being a former international cricketer who has also played in Bangladesh and ICC events, I am disappointed with the instability of the ICC. In 2025, the ICC had accepted Team India’s demand of not going to Pakistan due to security reasons. But it is refraining from taking a similar decision in the case of Bangladesh.”

He further said that the foundation of the International Cricket Council is based on fairness and continuity. Raising questions on ICC, Afridi said that Bangladeshi cricketers and fans also deserve respect.

Bangladesh is out of T20 World Cup

ICC has taken a difficult decision and shown Bangladesh the way out of T20 World Cup 2026. Scotland has taken its place in Group C. There was also an ICC board meeting regarding Bangladesh’s demand to change the venue, in which the decision was taken 14-2 against Bangladesh’s demand. After this, Bangladesh had asked the Dispute Resolution Committee to intervene in this matter, but citing protocol, DRC refused to hear Bangladesh’s appeal.
