Navgrah Shani Dev Katha: Once upon a time, Lord Indra, who was seated on the throne of power in heaven, requested Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu to describe their respective auspicious, inauspicious, shape-nature, personality, influence, strength, might and dignity from their mouths respectively. Story of Saturn (Shani Grah ki Kahani)

Shani Dev addressed all the planets and said, ‘You all are talking nonsense. I am the eldest among you. Even my father Surya Dev is afraid of my height, because I am taller than him. Sun God is the strongest among all the planets, all the planets get light from him, but I am even stronger and more powerful than him. Even Sun God considers me as iron. Even though my color is black, the form of Shiva’s Mahakaal is also black. That’s why I am a disciple of Shiva Swaroop Mahakal. I am called Shanishchar because I walk slowly and cautiously, thinking every moment. I reside in the body in the form of iron element. I continue to make living beings experience happiness and sorrow. I am the giver of mystery knowledge, esoteric knowledge, servants, fame and fortune and physical strength. I am the one who causes death to a person. I am just, capable of punishing the criminal.

I am the supreme judge of the unbroken universe. Under my rule, there is profit from the trade of sesame, petrol, diesel, burning oil, coal and drugs. I may move slowly, but I am very quick in giving profit and loss. Because of me, a person gets both unexpected gains and unexpected losses.

A person born on Mere Vaar i.e. Saturday is of sharp nature, determined, dark in complexion, full of masculinity, courageous and enthusiastic in mind. Such a person has a tall body, an oval face, full of long black hair and if I am inauspicious, he suffers in the 27th-29th year and lives for a full 88 years. If I become a giver of high age, I give an age of 120 years.

I inspire the whole world to do their work and enjoy happiness by attaining age. Therefore, the second and third phase of my third Sade Sati causes the death of a person. No person can attain further age by suffering the third Sade Sati in his entire life, whether he is a god or a demon.

According to me, Saturday is auspicious for housewarming, hiring servants, trading in iron metal, machinery and spare parts along with sesame seeds and oil. Doing evil deeds, applying oil, bringing oil home, bringing iron, sowing seeds and doing any agricultural work is considered inauspicious. My two zodiac signs are Capricorn and Aquarius. The high zodiac sign is Libra and the low zodiac sign is Aries. My importance is highest in Kaliyuga, hence I am the most important and biggest among all the planets.
