Stock Market Today: The second trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Tuesday, January 13, started on a positive note. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the green.

The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 84,079.32 with a rise of 201.15 points or 0.24 per cent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 25,897.35 with a rise of 107.10 points or 0.42 per cent.

By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 84,105 points, up by 227 points. Whereas Nifty 50 jumped by 58 points and was trading at the level of 25,848.

How was the market on Monday?

On Monday, January 12, there was a rise in the Indian stock market and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the green. Sensex rose by 301.93 points or 0.36 percent to 83,878.17 points, while NSE Nifty 50 jumped by 106.95 points or 0.42 percent to end the trading day at 25,790.25.

Tata Steel, Asian Paint, Trent, TCS and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, Bajaj Finance, INFY and HDFC Bank were. A decline was recorded in the shares of Nifty Auto, Nifty Midcap 100, Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty IT.

There was a rise in the shares of Nifty 100, Nifty Bank and Nifty FMCG. On Monday’s trading day, 25 shares from the BSE basket closed in the green and 5 shares recorded a decline.
