Stock Market Today: The second trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Tuesday, December 16, had a negative start to the trading day. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the red.

The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 85,025.61 points, down 187.75 points or 0.22 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 25,951.50, down 75.80 points or 0.29 percent.

By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 84,908 points, down by 304 points, while the Nifty 50 was trading at 25,940, down 86 points.

How was the market on Monday?

On Monday, December 15, there was a slight decline in the Indian stock market and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the red. Sensex fell by 54.30 points or 0.06 percent to 85,213.36 points, while NSE Nifty 50 slipped by 19.65 points or 0.08 percent and ended the trading day at 26,027.30.

Hindustan Unilever, Trent, HCL Tech, Tata Steel and Asian Paint were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, Maruti, Adani Port and Bharti Airtel were. A rise was recorded in the shares of Nifty IT, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Bank.

There was a decline in the shares of Nifty Auto and Nifty 100. On Monday’s trading day, 15 shares from BSE basket closed on the green mark and 15 shares recorded a decline.
