Stock Market Today: A decline is being seen in the Indian stock market on Thursday, April 2, the fourth trading day of the week. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 are trading down.

The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened with a decline of 872.27 points or 1.19 percent. Sensex started the day at the level of 72,262.05. At the same time, NSE Nifty 50 also started the day negative. Nifty 50 slipped 296.00 points or 1.31 percent and opened at the level of 22,383.40.

By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 71,733 points, down by 1401 points. Whereas Nifty 50 had slipped 456 points and was trading at the level of 22,222.

BSE’s top gainers and losers

Only HCL Tech shares were up from BSE basket. Whereas Sunpharma, Indigo, Adani Port, Eternal and L&T were the top losers.

How was the market on Wednesday?

There was a strong rise in the Indian stock market on the trading day of Wednesday, April 1. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 ended the day trading in the green. Sensex closed at 73,134.32 points with a rise of 1186.77 points or 1.65 percent, while NSE Nifty 50 jumped 348.00 points or 1.56 percent and closed at the level of 22,679.40.

Trent, Indigo, Adani Port, SBIN and Eternal were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, NTPC, Sun Pharma, PowerGrid and Bharti Airtel were there.

There was a rise in the shares of Nifty 100, Nifty Auto, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Bank, Nifty IT and Nifty Midcap 100. On Wednesday’s trading day, 25 shares from BSE basket closed in the green and 5 shares recorded a decline.
