India’s stance clear: Third party refusal denial
India has been continuously saying that it does not want any third party participation in a conversation with Pakistan. The 1972 Shimla Agreement also rejected the mediation of a third party between the two countries. India has also made it clear that it will talk with Pakistan only on the return of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and the issue of terrorism.

No contact after May’s struggle
There has been no mutual contact since the four -day struggle between the two countries in May. Khan said that Pakistan welcomes America’s interest to resolve this issue, but India will have to make up its mind. Response to terrorism, rumors and allegations
Speaking on terrorism in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, Khan said that the issue of terrorism spreading from Afghanistan has been raised many times. He dismissed the news of a secret agreement with the US to extract minerals and described the allegations of Pakistani citizens’ involvement in the Ukraine conflict as “baseless”. Khan said that Ukraine officials have not made formal contact with Pakistan on this issue.

Khawaja asif on shimla agreement: After exposing the issue of terrorism around the world, Pakistan has come on backfoot. Pakistani Defense Minister Khwaja Asif described the Shimla Agreement as a dead document. After this, on Friday (6 June 2025), Pakistan’s Defense Ministry said that no decision has been taken to cancel any bilateral agreement with India with this historic agreement.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that after recent developments, internal charges in Islamabad have intensified, but no official steps have been taken to cancel the current agreement with India.

‘Not a formal decision to end Shimla Agreement’

According to the report of the news agency PTI, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that no formal decision has been taken to abolish any bilateral agreement with India. He indicated that all the treaties, including the Shimla Agreement, are still in force. A day earlier on June 5, Pakistan Defense Minister Khwaja Asif said that the sanctity of the Shimla Agreement has ended due to India’s action.

Not third party in Shimla Agreement- Khwaja Asif

In an interview to Jio News, Khwaja Asif said, “This agreement was bilateral because it did not include a third party or World Bank.” The Pakistani Defense Minister also indicated that Islamabad may consider abolishing the Shimla Agreement and in such a situation the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan would become a ceasefire line.

Pakistan was shocked after India’s action

Islamabad threatened to abolish the Shimla Agreement after India action against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. However, he did not take any action to cancel this historic agreement. India and Pakistan had signed the Shimla Agreement after the 1971 war.
