There has been an uproar over the removal of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from a government office complex in Pune, Maharashtra. Various organizations protested on this issue on Monday, after which the administration had to reinstall the statue at its original place.

The protesting organizations opposed the removal of the bust of the 17th century Maratha warrior king on the grounds that it was part of the heritage structure.

What is the whole matter?

In fact, the statue of the Maratha king was removed from the Tehsildar office premises in Shukrawar Peth area of ​​the city on Saturday. After which protest arose. Seeing the increasing protests, the administration came on the back foot.

Earlier in the day, the administration had clarified that since the office is being shifted to another place, the statue has been removed respectfully and will be reinstalled in the new premises.

However, by evening, the administration took a soft stance and said that the statue was being reinstalled at its original place. Officials said there was no intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Since the office was shifted the statue was removed.

Shiv Sena (ubt) raised questions

Sanjay More, president of the Pune city unit of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), said the statue was removed on Saturday night. This building is a heritage structure and yet the statue was removed from here. Was necessary permission taken to remove it? Action should be taken against such officers and employees.

Looking at the stance of Shiv Sena and the local people, it is believed that this matter will heat up further and the BJP led NDA government will be surrounded. At present, politics does not seem to be stopping on this issue.

Maharashtra Government has changed the name of Aurangabad Railway Station to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station. This decision has been taken in honor of the son of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Aurangabad city and railway station were named after the first Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. This decision has been taken on the recommendation of Maharashtra Government.

Aurangabad railway station was built in 1900 and was built by Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. This station is situated on the Kacheguda-Manmad section. The government had issued a gazette notification on October 15 to formalize this name change. From now on, the new name of the station will be used in passengers and administrative documents only – Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Approval given on the recommendation of Maharashtra Government

According to Railways, this decision was taken after the recommendation of Maharashtra Government and approval of Home Ministry. The new name of the station has been kept as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with the aim of honoring the bravery and historical contribution of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Railway officials said that after this change, all the information and tickets will be issued according to the new name. An official said that the Railways has completed all the necessary administrative procedures. Now the name of the station ‘Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’ will be heard on all platforms and trains.

Earlier, the Central Government had also approved renaming Aurangabad city as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in 2022. Now with the renaming of the railway station, this process has been completed and the name of both the city and the station has become in line with the historical respect.

He further said that in the name of this religion, many great reformers of the society were tortured. ‘The followers of Sanatan Dharma tried to kill Jyotirao Phule. He threw cow dung and dirt at Savitribai Phule. This Sanatan Dharma was plotting to assassinate Shahu Maharaj.

Referring to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Awhad said, ‘It did not allow Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to drink water and study in school. Babasaheb Ambedkar later raised his voice against this Sanatan Dharma, burnt Manusmriti and turned down its repressive traditions. The author of Manusmriti also came out of this Sanatani tradition.

He clearly said that in today’s time these things should be said openly. He said, ‘We should not be afraid to openly say that Sanatan Dharma and its Sanatani ideology are distorted.’
