BCCI’s official statement on Shreyas Iyer’s health update

Issuing an official statement on Tuesday, BCCI had said, “Shreyas Iyer suffered a serious abdominal injury during the third ODI against Australia on October 25, which led to injury to his spleen and also internal bleeding. The injury was immediately identified and the bleeding was immediately stopped. His condition is now stable and he is kept under observation.”

The board further said, “A repeat scan on Tuesday, October 28 showed significant improvement and Shreyas is now recovering. The BCCI medical team, in consultation with experts in Sydney and India, will monitor his progress.”

Suryakumar Yadav is also currently in Australia, where a 5-match T20 series is being played between India and Australia. Iyer is in a hospital in Sydney, he will remain under observation for a few days and will return to India after being declared fit by the hospital.
