The Indian Air Force Group Captain and Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla recently attended an event where he shared his experiences related to the space journey. During this, he spoke to ABP News and shared the memories of space. He told that after returning from space, he is very happy with the love he is getting in India.

Shubhanshu Shukla said that after the space journey, he feels very good to come to the earth. The experience there was very good and after that too, the way people are getting love here, it is also very good. People are very excited about this mission and I am very happy for it.

Who missed the most?

He told that when he was preparing to go to space and during the space journey he missed his family and friends a lot. He said that we were in Quarrantin since a month before going to the space, I was in training before, so it was too much time, I met my wife and child and I had not met my parents for a year. What would Shubhanshu like to live?

As soon as he came to earth, he had asked for chips to eat because he was in America, he was not in India. After which they were given chips. However, later he ate mini kachori which was very good.

Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the first astronaut group of India’s second and international space station (ISS) to enter space, will return to India on Sunday (August 17, 2025). Captain Shubhanshu Shukla will meet PM Modi after returning to India

Captain Shubhanshu Shukla Axiom-4 was part of the private space mission, which left Florida on 25 June and reached the International Space Station on 26 June. He returned to Earth on 15 July. Three other astronauts- Pagi Whitson (America), Slavose Uznansky-Visnivsky (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary), Shukla held more than 60 experiments and 20 outreach sessions during the 18-day mission.

Shubhanshu was born in the middle class family

Shubhanshu Shukla was born on 10 October 1985 in a middle class family in Lucknow. There was very little hope that Shubhanshu would move towards becoming an astronaut, but an aircraft had increased his interest in the region. Shukla saw an aircraft in childhood, where he was thrilled to hear the speed and voice of the aircraft.

He had applied for the National Defense Academy, but his application was rejected due to old age. He was appointed to the Indian Air Force in the year 2006 and obtained an MTech degree in Aerospace Engineering. He has an experience of flying advanced fighter jets like MiG-29, Dornier 228. In 2019, he was selected for ISRO’s ‘Indian Human Spaceflight Program’. He was one of the four candidates who were selected for astronaut training.

He is the second astronaut of India, the first wing commander Rakesh Sharma, who visited space in 1984.
