Former MLA and doctor Anjali Nimbalkar from Khanapur in Karnataka has saved the life of an American woman in a mid-air medical emergency on a flight coming from Goa to Delhi. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress Party have praised this brave act.

Dr. Anjali provided emergency medical care

On December 14, Siddaramaiah posted on X that this incident happened on a flight coming from Goa to New Delhi. Shortly after takeoff, an American female passenger suffered severe chest pain and started having trouble breathing. The situation became serious.

Then former MLA and All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, who was aboard the flight, immediately helped. He assessed the woman’s condition and started emergency care. Dr. Anjali gave cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and stayed with the woman for about one and a half hours. He administered medicines and monitored her condition until the woman became stable. Due to his quick understanding and timely help, the woman’s life was saved and a major accident was averted.

Congress’s principle of ‘service above all’

Siddaramaiah wrote, ‘I am very proud to hear this. This work of Dr. Anjali is a service above public service. Even after leaving active medical practice and joining politics, his spirit of helping remains intact. Siddaramaiah wished him long life and good health, so that many more lives can benefit from his kindness and sense of duty.

Karnataka Congress also saluted Dr. Anjali. The party described it as an extraordinary example of courage, kindness and public duty. Congress said that public service does not end with post or position. Dr. Anjali’s step forward to help shows her lifelong commitment to service and caring for others. This reflects the Congress’s principle of ‘service above all’ and ‘humanity above all’.

Dr. Anjali is a trained medical professional before politics.

Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar is a trained medical professional. He had practiced medicine before joining politics. Now she is a former MLA and secretary of AICC of Congress. This incident is also being appreciated a lot on social media. People are praising Dr. Anjali’s bravery and humanity.

The Karnataka government on Thursday (December 04, 2025) approved a historic bill designed to control hate speech and hate crimes. The Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention and Control) Bill is now ready to be introduced in the state assembly.

According to the draft of the bill obtained by ABP News, there is a provision for strict punishment on individuals and organizations who spread communal tension, give hate speeches or incite hatred.

What will be the punishment for hate speech?

Several important provisions have been added to the bill, including harsher punishments for hate speech crimes. If found guilty for the first time, imprisonment of one to seven years and a fine of up to ₹ 50,000 can be imposed. In case of repeat offence, the punishment has been increased to two to ten years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹ 1,00,000. All offenses will be cognizable and non-bailable and cases will be heard by Judicial Magistrate First Class. Courts have also been given the power to award compensation commensurate with the loss suffered by the victims.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK. Patil said that this law is being brought with the aim of preventing unnecessary unrest in the society. He said, we have made very strict provisions in terms of penalties and punishments. This law will work very strictly against hate speech.

Patil also said that at present there is no such adequate law in the country, hence the state government has taken this step. He clarified that this bill is not to suppress the voice of dissent, but the law will take strict action against those who spread hatred.

Along with this, the cabinet also approved several draft bills. These include-

1. Karnataka Hate Speech and Hate Crimes Prevention Bill
2. Bayalusime Area Development Board (Amendment) Bill
3. Malnad Area Development Board (Amendment) Bill
4. Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Settlement (Amendment) Bill
5. Sri Chamundeshwari Area Development Authority (Amendment) Bill
6. Karnataka Inland Water Transport Rules Bill
7. Karnataka Cattle Slaughter Prevention and Protection Act – This is related to amendment in the provisions of Central Government grants to slaughter houses.
8. Karnataka Social Boycott (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill — has been brought with the aim of promoting social reforms.

The tussle between the Congress in Karnataka has calmed down after Breakfast Politics, but the sudden visit of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar to Delhi has raised the political temperature. However, DK Shivakumar said that his visit is not political, rather he has come to attend the wedding of his son’s friend. During this, he said that since the Parliament is in session, he cannot meet the High Command.

Delhi tour is not political: DK Shivakumar

After reaching Delhi, DK Shivakumar said, “There is no political agenda. I have come here for the marriage of my friend’s son. Also, I wanted to make arrangements for the vote theft rally on December 14. We are expecting more than 10,000 people from Karnataka. I just wanted to talk to my colleagues and other friends to see what arrangements we can make, hence I have come here.”

Will DK Shivkumar meet the party high command?

He said, “As Karnataka Congress President, all these things are my responsibility, so I have come here to do this. We have to take Karnataka forward together, work together. I will return early in the morning because I have a cabinet meeting at 11 o’clock.” On the question of meeting the party high command in Delhi, he said, “Right now the winter session of Parliament is going on, so everyone is busy. I do not think that I will be able to meet anyone because everyone is busy in Parliament.”

Supporters of CM and Deputy CM raised slogans

Meanwhile, something happened at Mangaluru airport to welcome General Secretary KC Venugopal, after which speculations started being made that all is not well in Karnataka. KC Venugopal was welcomed at Mangaluru airport with slogans in support of Shivakumar. In response, Siddaramaiah’s supporters later retaliated by raising slogans of ‘full term for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’.

The ongoing controversy over power sharing in Congress ruled Karnataka is not showing any signs of stopping. Recently, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had called State Deputy CM DK Shivakumar for a breakfast meeting at the CM residence, after which a statement came from both the leaders that there are no differences now. However, Siddaramaiah had made it clear that this meeting was held at the behest of the party high command. He had said that I will do whatever the high command says.

Just two days after this meeting, today (November 1), DK Shivkumar has created a stir in the state politics by posting on X. Now he has called the Chief Minister for breakfast. DK Shivakumar posted on X, “The Chief Minister and I will continue to work together as a team. I have invited the Chief Minister for breakfast tomorrow to discuss and strengthen our efforts together to fulfill the promises made to Karnataka.”

DK Shivakumar called Siddaramaiah for breakfast meeting

Let us tell you that there is a tussle going on between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka for a long time. To end this, a high profile breakfast meeting was organized in Bengaluru on Saturday (29 November). Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had told that the party leadership asked him and Shivakumar to sit together and talk over breakfast. The party high command had called this meeting to control the situation and resolve the matter, but now DK Shivakumar has called the Chief Minister of the state for a breakfast meeting.

Had breakfast with Siddaramaiah 2 days ago

After the breakfast meeting with Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar had said that with the support of all of you, we have brought the Congress government and we are working as per our promise. The people of the state are giving their full support. We have to fulfill their wishes. We are working in that direction. Whatever the high command says, we will follow it and there is no factionalism. We are still working together.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday (November 30) once again dismissed reports of internal differences with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He said that amid speculations about change of leadership in the state, he never took any MLA to Delhi.

Let us tell you that on Saturday, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar had a meeting over breakfast, after which they showed unity and denied any differences between them.

There have never been any differences between us: Deputy CM

Shivkumar told the media on Sunday, ‘There have never been any differences between us. Whenever I went to Delhi, I did not take even a single MLA. I could have taken at least 10 to 12 MLAs. This does not serve any purpose.

He said that being the Karnataka Pradesh Congress President, he is a ‘father figure’ to all the party members. DK said, ‘I have to take everyone along. All 140 MLAs are dear to me. I never discriminate against anyone. I have no differences with anyone.

I tried to save Kumaraswamy government: DK

HD was the Chief Minister for one year from May 2018. Recalling his efforts during Kumaraswamy’s tenure, DK Shivakumar said, ‘I tried my best to save the coalition government of Congress and JD(S). Both I and God know this.

He said Kumaraswamy and his father former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda also knows this. Responding to Kumaraswamy’s allegation that Shivakumar had sought the support of the abbots amid the tug of war for power, he said, ‘I never asked for it. I love all races. Many saints spoke in my favor. Had I asked him to speak on my behalf? No. This is their love and trust in me. Should I call it wrong?’

I don’t backstab: DK Shivakumar

Shivakumar said, ‘Let him (Kumaraswamy) say whatever he wants, but I will not be hurt. I never backstab. I go ahead and fight.

On the criticism being made by BJP regarding the leadership dispute, he said, ‘BJP can say anything for its survival. Should we take them seriously?’

The Deputy Chief Minister said that he wants to call an all-party meeting in Delhi to raise several issues related to the state, including the farmers’ issue and the Mekedatu Balancing Reservoir Project, in view of the Parliament session starting from December 1.

There has been a tussle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka for a long time. To end this, a high profile breakfast meeting is going to be held in Bengaluru today (29 November). In this, Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivkumar will sit face to face and talk.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said on Friday that the party leadership has asked him and Shivakumar to sit together on Saturday morning and discuss over breakfast, so that this matter can be resolved. Both the leaders will meet today at CM residence Kaveri at 9:30 am. The party high command has directed to call this meeting to keep the situation under control and resolve the matter.

Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar seen on one stage
Amidst all this, on Friday itself Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar were seen on the same stage in a government program. Meanwhile, DK Shivkumar made a comment from the stage praising Sonia Gandhi’s sacrifice in leaving the post of Prime Minister in 2004, which is being considered a taunt on Siddaramaiah in political circles.

What did Karnataka Home Minister say?
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that if the high command wants, he will support DK Shivakumar as the Chief Minister. However, shortly after this, the statement of Siddaramaiah camp minister Zameer Ahmed Khan came out. He said that Siddaramaiah will remain the Chief Minister for his entire tenure.

Winter session will start from December 8
This breakfast meeting is being considered as an initiative of the high command to stop the growing tension in the party. The winter session of the state assembly is going to start from December 8 in Belagavi. In such a situation, Congress wants to send a message to the opposition BJP and JDS that everything is fine within the government. At the same time, Siddaramaiah has made it clear that he is holding this meeting only on the orders of the high command, he will do whatever the high command says.

Amidst the ongoing power tussle in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the high command has asked both me and DK Shivakumar to meet. That’s why I have invited them for breakfast. When he comes, this issue will be discussed. Whatever decision the high command takes, we will accept it, I am saying the same today and will say the same tomorrow also. He also said that the decision of the high command will be accepted by everyone.

Siddaramaiah indicated that if the high command calls, he will also go to Delhi. There is a possibility that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister may hold face-to-face talks in Bengaluru tomorrow (November 29, 2025).

Siddaramaiah’s son gave statement amidst controversy

Amid the ongoing dispute over power in the state, Karnataka Legislative Council member and son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, said, “No information has been given by the party high command regarding changing the Chief Minister. If something like this has to happen, they will call us and talk to us. Some people are saying that DK Shivakumar should be made the Chief Minister, but he has also said that he will follow the decision of the high command. The high command said that they will call both of them and talk, so there is no doubt in this.” There should be no confusion.”

When Yatindra Siddaramaiah was asked whether the Vokkaliga community in Karnataka was demanding that DK Shivakumar be made the Chief Minister, he said, “I have already said that our party will decide who will become the Chief Minister. No one from outside has any right to comment on it.”

DK Shivkumar gave statement on the dispute for the post of Chief Minister

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, “I will definitely go to Delhi. It is like a temple for us. Congress has a long history and Delhi will always guide us. When they call me, party leaders and the Chief Minister, we will definitely go there.”

The political turmoil over the change of power in Karnataka is showing no sign of stopping. The ongoing direct and indirect war of words between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has increased the concern of the Congress high command. The question of ‘who will sit’ on the power of the state is currently unresolved, but now the key to the decision of this entire dispute has reached the hands of Rahul Gandhi.

According to sources, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has given a clear indication to both the leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar that the final decision will be taken by the party high command. He has also told that Sonia Gandhi is out of the country these days and the final discussion on change of leadership will take place after her return. After this, Rahul Gandhi will decide whether there will be a change in the post of Chief Minister or Siddaramaiah will remain on the post.

All eyes fixed on Rahul’s decision

This ongoing tug of war regarding leadership in Karnataka has not only increased the turmoil in the politics of the state. In fact, it has created a situation of confusion within the Congress organization also. At present, all eyes are on Rahul Gandhi’s decision, which will determine who will be in charge of Karnataka.

DK Shivakumar or SiddaramaiahWho is stronger in Karnataka Congress?

If we look at the current situation in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah is the strongest leader of Congress. He belongs to Ahinda community. He also has the strong support of more than 100 out of 137 MLAs. Therefore, in such a situation, any kind of change without their consent will be a bit difficult.

On the other hand, pressure is increasing on DK Shivkumar and his camp. The important thing is that DK’s claim within Congress seems to be unstable due to internal support. Although the final decision on the Karnataka chair will be taken by the Congress high command, it has become clear.

The sudden visit of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to Mumbai has intensified the stir in the politics of the state. Amidst the discussion of changing the Chief Minister, this visit is giving rise to many speculations. However, Shivkumar clearly said that his visit is completely personal and there was no plan for any political meeting.

‘If a meeting had to be held, it would have been in Delhi or Bengaluru’ – Shivkumar
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Shivkumar rejected reports of meeting Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. He said, ‘I have come here only for a family function. No meeting took place. If there was a meeting to be held then why would he come to Mumbai? She would have been in Bengaluru or Delhi. When asked if he talked to the leadership on the issue of the Chief Minister’s post, Shivakumar replied – ‘No… I am in no hurry for anything.’

War of words between Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah
Earlier, the ongoing tussle between Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar over the post of Chief Minister turned into a war of words on Thursday, when both came face to face to fulfill a promise. Amidst the power struggle, Shivkumar said, ‘The power of words is world power.’ To this, Siddaramaiah quipped, ‘A promise becomes power only when it improves people’s lives.’ Siddaramaiah is insisting that he will complete the full five-year term. Whereas Shivkumar wants that he should be made the Chief Minister after the completion of half the tenure of the government (on November 20).

Siddaramaiah vs Shivakumar reached social media
The Chief Minister posted on ‘X’ and said, ‘The mandate given by the people of Karnataka is not for a moment but is a responsibility for the entire five years.’ Shivkumar wrote on social media on Thursday, ‘Sticking to one’s words is the greatest strength in the world! The power of words is world power. He said, ‘Whether it is a judge… or anyone else, even if it is me, everyone should stick to their word. The power of words is the real power of the world. The cryptic post is believed to be a reminder to Congress and Siddaramaiah that in 2023, when both were vying for the chief minister’s post and the party had won the state elections, they had reportedly signed a power-sharing agreement.

Siddaramaiah reminded of his promises
Siddaramaiah told in his post how he made the world better. For this, he mentioned five guarantee schemes – ‘Shakti’, ‘Griha Lakshmi’, ‘Yuva Nidhi’, ‘Anna Bhagya’ and ‘Griha Jyoti’. These schemes are related to free electricity, cash assistance to women and free bus travel for women. Siddaramaiah said that in his first term from 2013 to 2018, 157 out of 165 promises were fulfilled, i.e. more than 95 percent of the promises were fulfilled.

He said, ‘In the current tenure, more than 243 out of 593 promises have been fulfilled. All other promises will be fulfilled with commitment, credibility and caution. The Chief Minister said, ‘The mandate given by the people of Karnataka is not for a moment but for the entire five years. The Congress party, including me, is working for its people with truth, stability and courage. Our promise for Karnataka is not a slogan, but it means a lot to us.

Amidst the ongoing tussle within the Congress over the Chief Minister’s post in Karnataka, Home Minister G. God has made a big statement. He said that if the Congress high command decides to make DK Shivakumar the Chief Minister, he will completely accept it. This statement is being considered as one of the strongest signals coming from the Siddaramaiah camp.

What did God say?
While talking to a media channel, he said, ‘When I am asked about my desires for the post of Chief Minister, I answer that I am in this race. But if the party high command approves a transition and DK Shivakumar becomes the chief minister, we will accept it. He also said that if the transition was approved by the party, it would be smooth and peaceful.

He himself is interested in the post of CM.
Parameshwara reiterated that he also aspires to become the Chief Minister and the high command is fully aware of his contribution to the party. He made it clear that the final decision is in the hands of the party high command. He also described Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge as a ‘suitable candidate’, but said he had no knowledge of any agreement between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar.

Struggle continues over leadership in Karnataka
At present there is speculation about the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka. The tussle revolves around the alleged power-sharing agreement between Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Everyone is waiting for the decision of the party high command, which will decide the direction of the state’s politics.

DK Shivkumar’s suggestive statement
Earlier, amid the ongoing tussle over the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka, Congress State President and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had given a symbolic statement. He said that ‘the power of words is the power of the world and keeping a promise is the greatest power.’ His statement is being seen as an indication of the demand for change of power after Siddaramaiah and the political pressure associated with it.
