Painkiller Infused Ice Cream: Nowadays, a strange but quite attractive trend is seen on social media. This new trend is painkiller mixed with ice cream. This new idea sounds very different and interesting, in which on one hand it gives the taste of cold ice cream and on the other hand it provides relief from headache. It is fun and therapeutic at the same time, but many people are confused whether it is really as good as it sounds.

This trend started from Netherlands and gradually became a topic of discussion all over the world. Many people consider it an easy and comfortable treatment. At the same time, doctors say that it is not as safe as it looks, so let us know how effective ice cream with painkillers is and how dangerous it is for health.

How effective are ice creams with painkillers?

Ice cream with painkillers is not considered very effective. This idea sounds good, but according to medical science, it has many big problems. People often associate ice cream with happiness, comfort and peace. It is said that whether you are stressed or tired, a scoop of ice cream improves your mood. In such a situation, if medicine is added to it, it seems like two benefits together. However, doctors say that this is where the problem starts. Medicines are not made for consumption but for treatment. It is necessary to take them in a certain way and quantity. When these are mixed in food items, both their effectiveness and safety come into question.

Also read – Anal Cancer Symptoms: If there is blood in the toilet then it may not be just piles, it could be anal cancer, know how dangerous it is?

How dangerous is ice cream with painkillers for health?

1. Ice cream with painkillers is dangerous for health for many reasons. When you take a pill, its quantity is predetermined. The doctor gives the right dose according to your age, weight and disease. But if the same medicine is mixed in ice cream, you will not know how much medicine you have taken. There can be a risk of overdose if you eat too much.

2. Repeatedly taking painkillers can worsen the headache. This is called medication overuse headache. If people repeatedly take medicine through ice cream, then instead of getting cured, the headache may worsen.

3. Medicines are made in such a way that they can affect the body properly, but when they are mixed in food like ice cream, the medicine does not dissolve properly in the body. The effect of the medicine may be less or irregular. Besides, the quality of the medicine may also be affected.

4. For some people, ice cream itself can cause headache, especially for migraine patients or those who have problem with cold things and it can cause headache in those who consume excess sugar or fat. In such a situation, ice cream with painkillers can have the opposite effect. This may increase pain instead of providing relief.

In today’s time, it has become common to take pain killers in case of headache, back pain, joint pain or minor injury. Many people keep taking these medicines for a long time without doctor’s advice. Pain killers provide relief in the beginning, but with continuous consumption, this habit can gradually become dangerous for the internal organs of the body. In particular, it has the greatest impact on the kidneys and liver, because the majority of the drugs are excreted through these organs. Often, as soon as the pain subsides, people consider pain killers safe and ignore its side effects. This carelessness can become the cause of serious diseases in future. In such a situation, let us now tell you that if you have also been taking pain killers for a long time, then why should you be careful now.

How do pain killers harm kidneys and liver?

According to experts, pain killers definitely reduce swelling and pain in the body, but if taken for a long time, it can affect the blood vessels of the kidneys. Due to this, the blood flow to the kidney reduces and its working capacity gradually starts decreasing. The job of the liver is to break down the medicines and take them out of the body. Continuously taking pain killers puts extra pressure on the liver, which can damage liver cells. In some cases, problems like swelling in the liver, fatty liver or increased liver enzymes also occur. Apart from this, the risk is higher in people already suffering from kidney or liver disease.

Symptoms of kidney and liver damage

If the pain killer is affecting the kidneys and liver, then the body starts giving some signals. In kidney related problems, feeling of tiredness again and again, swelling on legs or face, less urine or change in its color may be seen. In case of liver damage, symptoms like loss of appetite, nausea, pain in the upper stomach, yellowing of eyes or skin may be seen. Many times, internal damage occurs even without severe pain. Therefore mild symptoms should not be ignored.

Why does the habit of pain killer become dangerous?

According to experts, pain relieving medicines are easily available in India. That’s why people start taking medicine on their own even in case of headache, body ache or mild fever. Especially the consumption of medicines like paracetamol and ibuprofen without advice has become common. Doctors say that pain killer melts in the stomach and spreads throughout the body through blood circulation. It blocks the chemicals that cause pain and inflammation, providing immediate relief. But this process puts extra pressure on the liver.

Taking Medicines Without Prescription: It has become a common practice in India to take medicine from the medical store as soon as there is fever or mild pain. People are using painkillers, fever medicines and cough syrups without doctor’s advice. But recently, after the government banned the dosage of painkiller Nimesulide, this issue is again in discussion as to how dangerous this carelessness can prove to be.

In fact, health experts say that apart from antibiotics and acid medicines, the most misused medicines in India include pain killers, cough syrups and sleeping pills. Excessive or wrong consumption of these medicines can harm many parts of the body.

What is the loss?

Medicines used for pain, swelling and fever are called nonsteroidal. These include medicines like paracetamol, ibuprofen, diclofenac and naproxen. Paracetamol is generally considered safe, but overdose can cause serious damage to the liver. Especially for those who drink alcohol or are already suffering from liver disease, it can also be fatal. Dr PN Venkatesh said in an article in the Sunday Guardian that painkillers like diclofenac and ketorolac, when taken for a long time, increase the risk of stomach ulcers, internal bleeding, kidney damage, heart attack and stroke. Despite this, these medicines are easily available in many places without prescription.

being used openly for a long time

Experts say that Nimesulide, which has been banned by the government, is considered very dangerous for the liver. This drug is already banned in many countries and its use in children below 12 years of age is prohibited in India. Even after this, it continued to be used openly for a long time. Experts are also warning that considering every fever as normal flu can be a big mistake. Serious diseases like dengue, malaria, typhoid, pneumonia, TB, urine infection and meningitis also start with fever. In such a situation, just taking fever medicine suppresses the disease and proper treatment gets delayed, which can prove fatal.

Why is it important to consult a doctor?

In India, medicines are kept in different schedules. Many painkillers come under Schedule H, which means they should be sold only on prescription. But these medicines are also available without prescription. Apart from this, similar brand names of medicines are also a big danger, due to which there is a risk of getting the wrong medicine. Health experts say that the habit of self-medication increases the risk of stomach ulcers, internal bleeding, liver failure, kidney damage and even heart attack. Doctors recommend that in case of fever or pain, one should consult a doctor instead of taking medicine on one’s own.

In today’s fast-paced life, pain has become a common thing. Be it headache, back pain, joint pain, period pain or mild fever, most of us go straight to the medical store and take a painkiller without thinking much. People start taking medicines like ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen or Tylenol again and again. But do you know that the medicine which gives you instant relief can gradually harm your body from inside. A recent report and warning from doctors have made it clear that taking painkillers without doctor’s advice can become a dangerous habit. So let us know how dangerous taking painkillers again and again is for health.

How much painkillers are being taken?

According to a recent study, more than 1 billion NSAIDs (pain-relieving medicines) are prescribed every year around the world. About 3 crore people consume these medicines daily. These figures show that pain pills are no longer a necessity but are becoming a habit. NSAIDs stand for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. These are medicines which reduce pain, reduce swelling and reduce fever. They are generally used in problems like headache, cold, flu or corona, sprain, strain, period pain and arthritis.

How dangerous is taking painkillers again and again for health?

1. Painkillers harm the intestines – When people take painkillers like ibuprofen, 75 percent of them get swelling in their intestines. 1 out of every 4 people may get stomach ulcer. Painkillers reduce blood flow in the small veins that supply blood to the intestines. When the intestines do not get enough blood, the lining of the intestines becomes weak, bacteria and toxic elements start entering the body, swelling and irritation start, its symptoms can be problems like stomach ache, burning sensation, vomiting, black colored stool, IBS.

2. Kidney and liver are also affected – Painkillers also affect the nerves of the kidneys. Gradually the filtering capacity of the kidneys reduces. Many times it becomes known only when the damage has increased a lot. Therefore, doctors advise that blood tests and urine tests should be done from time to time.

3. Danger to liver also – People consider painkillers like Tylenol to be safe, but this drug is the cause of more than 50 percent of liver failure cases in America. Tylenol is found in many medicines, especially for cold and cough. Unintentional overdose can occur, so it is very important to read the label before taking the medicine.

4. Headache medicine can increase headache – Experts say that if you take painkillers for more than 10-15 days in a month, the body becomes dependent on them. Headache may start if medicine is not taken. This is called Medication Overuse Headache.
