Teams from 8 countries announced so far

Zimbabwe is the 8th country, which has announced its team for the T20 World Cup. BCCI had declared its team on 20th December itself. Today Australia and South Africa also announced their teams. So far, India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Oman, England, South Africa, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe teams have been announced.

Let us tell you that all the countries have to submit their teams to ICC by 8th January. The deadline for making changes in the squad is 31 January. Talking about the format, 20 teams have been divided into groups of 5-5. 2 teams from each group will go to the Super 8 round, after which there will be a knockout stage.

Very sad news has come out from the family of Zimbabwe cricket team’s T20 captain Sikandar Raza. Raza’s younger brother Mohammad Mahdi died at the age of 13. This news has sent a wave of mourning not only in Zimbabwe cricket but in the entire cricket world. Zimbabwe Cricket Board (ZC) issued an official statement confirming this tragic incident. The board said that Mohammed Mahdi died on 29 December 2025 in Harare. He was suffering from a serious disease called Hemophilia since birth and recently he died due to health problems. He was laid to rest at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare on 30 December.

Zimbabwe Cricket Board expressed condolences

Zimbabwe Cricket Board said in its statement, “Zimbabwe Cricket expresses its deepest condolences to its T20 captain Sikandar Raza and his family. The board, players and staff stand with the Raza family at this difficult time. We pray that God gives strength to the family to bear this loss and may the soul of Mohammed Mahdi rest in peace.”

Raza’s pain spilled over on social media

Sikandar Raza also reacted to this sad news through social media. While sharing the statement of Zimbabwe Cricket, he posted a broken heart emoji, which expresses his pain. Cricket fans and fellow players are continuously consoling Raza.

This personal tragedy has come at a time when Sikandar Raza is going through an important phase of his career. Recently he performed brilliantly for Sharjah Warriors in ILT20 2025. Raza scored 171 runs in 10 matches in the tournament and also took 10 wickets, which proved his all-round ability once again.

Sikandar Raza has also reacted to the social media post made by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board. He expressed his pain by sharing a broken heart emoji.

Sikandar Raza was last seen playing a cricket match in ILT20 2025. In this tournament, Raza scored 171 runs in 10 matches and also took 10 wickets. Despite Raza’s brilliant performance, his team Sharjah Warriors failed to make it to the playoffs.

Sikandar Raza will now be seen playing for Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup 2026. He is the current captain of Zimbabwe T20 team.
