India has started clamping down against Khalistani organization Sikh for Justice (SFJ) and terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. In this sequence, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a new case against Gurpatwant Singh Pannu on Wednesday (September 24, 2025).

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took this action with the remarks of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in which the Khalistani terrorist announced a reward of Rs 11 crore to the Prime Minister from hoisting the tricolor on the Red Fort. This statement was made by Pannu on August 10 through a video link from Washington during the ‘Meat the Press’ program held at Lahore Press Club in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, a disputed map was released by terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, which included Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. Sikh for Justice (SFJ) also formed a group named Shaheed Jatha against India.

Action on Khalistani organization network

The NIA has registered a case under sections 61 (2) of BNS 2023 and section 10 and 13 of UAPA. Now the agency will investigate the expansion of other people involved in this conspiracy and this network. Earlier, Khalistani extremist Indrajit Singh Gosal, a close associate of terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in Canada and the right hand, was arrested.

Gosal’s arrest is a clear indication that agencies have initiated strict action against the pro -Khalistan organization Sikh for Justice.

After the murder of Nijjar, Gosal is gathering support for the demand of Khalistan

After the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023, Gosal came into the limelight as a major Canadian organizer of the US -based Khalistani organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). He had organized several referendum in support of Khalistan, which was aimed at supporting the demand of an independent Khalistan nation apart from Punjab.

Investigation agencies focus on Sikh for Justice

It is said that Indian agencies are regularly sharing intelligence information with Canadian agencies. However, before this, information of organizations like Babur Khalsa International (BKI) has been shared, but this time meditation is mainly focused on Sikh for Justice.

Canada has arrested Khalistani Indrajit Singh Gosal. This action was taken after the National Security Advisory level meeting between India and Canada. Gosal worked as a private security officer (PSO) of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a declared terrorist of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had pressurized Canada’s Marks Carney government to take strict action against Khalistani terrorists, after which this arrest was possible.

Arrested last year also

36 -year -old Inderjit Singh Gosal was arrested by the Canadian police in November last year in a case of violence in a Hindu temple in Greater Toronto Area (GTA). However, he was later released on conditions.

Indrajit Singh Gosal is considered to be the main coordinator for a referendum for Khalistan in Canada. Recently he has been arrested again on charges of arms -related crimes. Apart from this, he is also an associate and personal security officer (PSO) of Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. The Government of India has nominated Gurpatwant Singh Pannu as a Khalistani terrorist.

Canadian government presented internal report

In early September, the Canadian government released an internal report, in which it was admitted that the Khalistani terrorist groups are active in the country and they are getting funding to spread terror against India. The report mentions groups like Babbar Khalsa International and International SYF, which have been listed as a terrorist organization under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The report also said that now these extremist groups are active through groups of small individuals instead of large organizations, which are not bound by a certain organization, but support the Khalistan issue and are involved in activities against India.

What is the meaning of this arrest

This arrest is being seen as part of action on Khalistani terrorists after a national security advisory level meeting between India and Canada. India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had pressurized the Canadian government to take drastic measures against Khalistani militants, after which this major action was taken.

The federal courts of Canada have rejected the appeals of at least 30 people in 2025 so far, who challenged the order of rejection of strings or refuge in the court. In these cases, the appeals were accused of allegedly supporting Khalistan.

These people had appealed against the government’s decision in the federal court, in which they were refused to remove them from the country or give refugee status. In many cases, the petitioners had argued that their separatist organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) or the so -called Khalistan Refreedom in some form or the other had kept the voter identified. He said that for this reason, if they return to India, they will have to face harassment.

However, the court accepted the appeal of the petitioners in only four cases. These figures are based only on court records, which have been made publicly available.

Decision in court case

The latest case in these four cases is of Paradeep Singh vs. Public Safety and Emergency Preparation Minister. In this, the petitioner demanded a judicial review against his exile order. He had provided evidence of his parents’ affidavit and support for the support of the Khalistan movement in Canada on social media. But this petition was rejected by the federal court of Toronto on 6 September.

In this case, the Federal Court judge said in his judgment, “After considering the arguments of the documents filed by the parties and the lawyers, I am dismissing the petition present for the stay.”

Petitioner came to Canada on work permit in 2023

The Indian citizen, who filed a petition in the federal court of Canada, first came to Canada on February 2, 2023 on a work permit, which ended on November 10, 2024. After the permit ended, the couple did not take any further action to increase it, but on November 16, 2024, they filed the claim of being refugee.

While the relationship between India and Canada was recently shown to improve, now a new incident has shocked these efforts. In the British Columbia province of Canada, radical Sikh elements have opened a symbolic “embassy” called Republic of Khalistan.

This alleged embassy has been established in a part of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara located in Surrey. The inauguration of this embassy coincides with the preparations for the ‘Khalistan referendum’ organized by a banned organization called ‘Sikhs for Justice’ (SFJ). Indian security agencies are keeping a close watch on this development.

Impact on India-Canada diplomacy
The dialogue between India and Canada recently may be affected again. During the G7 Summit, the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the new Prime Minister of Canada Mark Karney was considered to be the beginning of the improvement in relationships. But opening the symbolic embassy of Khalistan in Surrey can weaken this effort.

Controversy arose after Nijjar’s death
Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government in the murder of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which was completely rejected by India. However, in recent times, both countries indicated improvement in relationships.

India’s old objection
India has been continuously telling Canada not to allow its land to be used for anti-India activities. Especially India’s concerns about the activities of Khalistani organizations have been for decades. From the Air India bomb blast in 1985, India has warned Canada many times on this issue.

Canadian Intelligence Agency report
Canadian intelligence agency CSIS first admitted in its report in June 2025 that Khalistani, who was living in Canada, has been involved in violent violent activities with political purpose. The report said that no such attack was found in 2024, but Khalistani elements are active towards funding, making plans and carrying out violence on foreign land.

Four arrested in Nijjar murder case
Four people were arrested in May 2024 in the case of Nijjar’s murder and accused of conspiring to murder and murder. This case is still under investigation.
