How to Block SIM Card: Nowadays, everything from personal to banking details is stored in mobile. In such a situation, if it is stolen then the tension increases. If the phone is stolen then first of all the SIM card should be blocked. If the SIM card remains active, the phone thief can drain your bank account and easily gain access to social media accounts. Today we are going to tell you why it is important to block the SIM card and what is the method for it.

This is why it is important to block the SIM card

Nowadays everything from social media to bank account is linked to SIM card. Even if you have to log in on a social media platform, OTP will come on your mobile number and if you use UPI or net banking, OTP will also come on your mobile number. In such a situation, if your SIM card reaches the wrong hands, it can cause serious damage. This may lead to incidents of SIM fraud.

What is the method to block SIM card?

If your phone is stolen then the SIM can be blocked by contacting customer care. Take another phone and call the customer care number of the SIM company. The customer care executive will ask for many information from you including name, mobile number, address and KYC details. Once the correct information matches, your SIM card will be blocked.

If you are not able to talk to the customer care, then you can also go to the SIM company’s store and get the SIM card blocked. Here you will have to show a government ID to prove your identity. After this your SIM card will be blocked. After blocking the old SIM, you can also get a new SIM with the same number from the store. For this, KYC process will have to be completed.

Don’t forget to do this also

After the phone is stolen, block the SIM as well as change the passwords of all your accounts. Apart from this, do not forget to inform the bank and police also to stop banking transactions. If an Android phone is stolen then Find My Device and iPhone users can trace its location with the help of Find My.

Read this also-

Do not put a cover on the mobile charger, the consequences can be dangerous, there is a risk of fire.

In today’s digital era, mobile number has become an important part of our identity. Banking, social media, online shopping, everywhere our mobile number has become our identity. Along with this, cases of online fraud and fake SIM cards are increasing rapidly these days.

Many times, by misusing the copy of someone’s Aadhar card or identity card, someone else gets a mobile SIM activated on it and the real ID holder does not even know about it. Later, if that SIM is used for some wrong purpose, then the person has to face trouble. In such a situation, let us know today how we can find out if someone is using a fake SIM in your name.

How to check fake SIM?

If there is a fake SIM in your name, then to avoid this problem, the Government of India has created a special website TAFCOP (Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection). With the help of this portal, you can know in just 1 minute how many and which SIM cards are running in your name. It is very important to know how many SIMs are active in your name because if someone has activated the SIM on your ID and it is being used for wrong purposes, then you can become responsible. Your name may appear in some fraud or scam. If multiple SIMs are running without your knowledge, then the data and privacy risk also increases. Also, only a maximum of 9 SIM cards can be activated on one ID.

Find out how many SIMs are running in your name in just 1 minute.

1. First of all, go to the browser of your mobile or laptop and open the website https://tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in/.

2. After this a box will appear on the home page, enter your mobile number in it.

3. Now fill the captcha code given below and click on Validate Captcha.

4. Now an OTP will come on your mobile, enter it and login.

5. After login, you will see the list of all the mobile numbers which are linked to your ID.

What to do if a number is not yours?

If you see a number in the list which you do not recognize or which you have not taken yourself, then select the Not My Number option given in front of that number and then click on the Report button. Now after registering the complaint, you will get a ticket ID or reference number. Also, your complaint will be investigated and if necessary, that fake SIM will be closed or removed from your ID.

Read also Is this setting not on in your phone? Stop it immediately otherwise spying may happen.
